Default Bodyguard 380 Experiences

Bought new about a year ago, no laser, no safety, despite all the bad news posts. First range trip last rd wouldn't feed from either mag, ended up nose up in ejection port. My Lord, they were right! Back to Smith. Returned with new and longer mag springs. Now have 1300 rds thru, perfect and very accurate out to about 15 yds. Much toodo about nothing. Seems you only hear about problem guns, this and the Shield. Love it. So QUIT IT!

Agreed! The Shield (imho), is the king of single stack 9mms! My PC Shield (9mm and factory night sights) is the most accurate pistol I've ever shot!

Default BG .380

I thought this thread was about the BG .380 . Which BTW, after finding the ammo it likes about a year ago, I've run over 600 rounds 100% reliable. I like everything about it

I had the same thing when mine was new. Called S&W, they promptly sent me two new mag springs and followers, and at my request threw in a second flat mag baseplate. The gun has been perfect ever since, through hundreds of rounds. It's my EDC. I shoot it much better than my former carry, a 642. I've got three friends who have bought and carry Sig P238's. Those are sweet little guns, but I'm not the least tempted to buy one. Sticking with my BG.

I agree. I use the American Gunner and Hornady Custom in my BG. In fact all Hornady ammo runs great in a BG.

I love my BG. Bought mine 2 years ago and I did have mag issues back then when it was new. They made me send it back along with both mags. They ended up changing the springs and followers. It's been fine since but I wish they just sent me the parts to install myself.
As for the p238, it's a great pistol and one of the best .380s made. I just would never carry one cocked and locked in a pocket. That's why my favorite .380 is the BG. It's like a lightweight semi-auto that works like a revolver.

Hollow points of any name brand have been 100% reliable for me. Matter of fact ive only had 2 failures in it's entire life and it was the same box of **** ammo.

I recently put a hogue beavertail grip on my BG and it feels amazing in hand now.

As far as my hollow point of choice I am using Precision one as they were proven on youtube to test the best. Even over speer, which came in 2nd.

I have never seen a box of precision one for sale... but i live in commie massachusetts where variety is limited. I've been carrying Federal hshoks and HST's since its what i can find and what works well in my gun. I would buy the speers as gold dots are available here as well.
