Got it,range report! Who likes the VTAC?
To me it's so ugly I just had to get one. Made a good deal on a nib 9mm version, will have it next week. Called S&W this morning and the nice lady I spoke to is sending me 3 fde base plates for my old 17 rd mags-gratis no less!!! That's customer service!
Here it is, added Talon grip wrap and the Apex forward sear with aluminum trigger-I love their gear. Still waiting on the floorplates for my old mags from S&W, hopefully in the next day or so. Also ordered an fde holster from Overwatch, woohoo, total fde ugly LOL .
Got to the range with it and wasn't disappointed in any way. Shot a couple hundred rounds of a mix of Remington and Federal 115 and 124 fmj. No issues at all, shot great, rounds went exactly where I wanted them to. I have no idea how old this gun is though the sights are dated 2016. Couldn't ask anything more of it, very happy with this purchase.

I like the Vtac. I had just bought an FDE frame .40 a few weeks before I saw the VTaC, or I'd have bought one of those.
My .40 doesn't have the Cerakote slide like the VTac, but I can do that myself, as well as add night sights. And my trigger is pretty heavy, badly in need of some Apex parts.
Good thinking, about asking Smith for some FDE base plates.
It didn't occur to me to ask S&W, so I ended up buying half a dozen.

Thought about getting 1 a few yrs. ago but then they had severe issues with the finish, which was/is not Cerakote but a Nitride Vapor application, which is now quite durable, however basically it is a now old design and doesn't have the features of the new 2.0!

Not a fan of the sight "upgrade" Rather have a basic night sight from trijicon or mepro and the color is not a plus for me .
The VTAC as notes is the gen 1 old design so triggers and accuracy are what they are .
But they feels great in the hand !

I sold a 2013 full size to get the VTAC and have an older Compact. No accuracy or any other issues for that matter with either one. The Compact has Ameriglo i-dot night sights and the Apex duty/carry kit and trigger-couldn't be happier.
I'm in to the VTAC for $330. It'll be a range/class and sometime home/truck gun. I've shot a friend's new 2.0 and didn't notice a real difference between it and my full size.

I prefer my 2.0 with TruGlo TFX Pro sights. Why stack the tritium and fiber optics, when you can have them all in one. Not sure why they kept the stacked sights on the P320 VTAC, but they did.

I had one for a while. I loved the way it looked, but could not make peace with the trigger. I sold it. I should have kept it and added an Apex trigger. I should mention the sights were a tad difficult for me to learn.
Love my PC Shield in 9mm, and my 2.0 with an Apex trigger in 9mm (4.25 barrel).

I was interested when I first got one in .40, but the sights have not lived up to expectations.
I'd sell it, but I doubt it'd move, so it sits in the vault as a backup.

Mac did a vid on it in 2011 and liked it even the sights but pointed out that after being holstered 2X the finish was wearing off, which many others had the same issue and S&W did end up later fixing the finish issues!
However today why buy 1 when its basically is a Model 1 and the new 2.0 has so many more needed & improved features!

Well, I've handled and shot the new 2.0 and frankly I can't see from a practical standpoint what the needed and improved features are.
The deal I got on the VTAC made it impossible, at least for me, to pass up haha. As "improved" as the trigger is on the 2.0 I'd still go for the Apex duty/carry kit on one, as I'll do on the VTAC. Still at a great price point.
Shot my friend's today and indoors I really picked up the fiber sights quickly. Didn't notice the tritium dots in the bright range lights, don't forsee an issue in a no/low light situation. Oh well, can't have too many M&Ps
Pics when I get it.
