And perception is everything. If they think you're bad, you're bad. No amount of reality will change that.

My department has been issuing M&P's for many years now, zero issues. I have well over a dozen M&P's, zero issues. I volunteer at a local range, see lots of M&P's but never see any having problems. The OP's experience and my experience could not be more opposite. I did send in an M&P22 once when the manual safety lever broke, came back fixed in about 6 weeks with some new springs to boot.

I don't know what we can draw from these problem threads, other than the fact that some people are having problems with some of their guns. Not too many people start No Problems So Far threads, although I find these My Gun's Broke threads to be the most interesting and encourage everyone with problems to post them.
I'd love to rummage around in S&W's files because I'm sure they analyse the numbers of repairs against sales and know exactly how good (or bad) their manufacturing processes and QC actually are.

And a lot of people aren't having any problems at all.

Not bought out...
November 7, 2016, Smith & Wesson announced that it would be changing the name of its holding company to American Outdoor Brands Corporation.
