After renting a M&P 45 Shield Thursday, then going home to do research, I went back and bought it Friday. Today I took it to the range to see what it could do.
Operationally, the gun performed without a single hitch of any kind. Accuracy was a little harder for me to tell. Allergies were irritating my left, dominant, eye. Sometimes the sights got a little blurry, I had already noted they really aren't all that bright.
I did notice that my Walther PPS that I brought along was shooting a lot better. It's sights are a brighter color, and easy to see in indoor range lighting. Having 70 year old eyes doesn't help a lot. When I used drops to clear my eye, the Shield also shot where I aimed it.
I just researched some sights on Amazon, particurlarly the XS and Trijicon HP which help me a lot. All the sights just stated "M&P Shield" except the Trij HDs which said "M&P Shield 40, 45, and 9mm".
That makes it look like they all use the same sights and adujst height with the dovetail ? I'm used to Sig Sauer sights that have a different sight for each caliber.
