Good job Smith and Wesson, you scammed me out of $75.
Enjoy it. Guess what brand I won't be buying in the future?

Instead of attempt to work with them to solve the issue, you immediately jump on here, of all places, to accuse S&W of a rip-off and a scam, and make a promise of no business in the future?

You must be a real joy to have around.

S&W is a reputable company, and if you comply with the rules, you will receive the rebate.

I am giving the benefit of the doubt to S&W and am guessing there was a problem with your documents.

Work WITH S&W, not AGAINST them on social media.

So what you want me to believe is that you fronted the cost of 30 boxes of ammo for three different friends and all you wanted them to do was give you their rebatecheck? I gotta tell ya I have heard better stories from my clients. The one that comes to mind was when they found dope in my client's pants pocket and his defense was "Those ain't my pants". Mighta worked if he wasn't wearing them at the time.
I "think" that you bought 10 boxes of ammo four times and then used three friends names and addresses to try to score 4 different rebate checks. Hell nothing wrong with that pardner, I've done it myself many times-but don't sit there and insult my intelligence with THAT story.

Oh and assuming that your story is true and your friends did indeed keep the ammo than you are correct it wasn't a straw purchase. But I sure wouldn't want to bet my freedom on that story if it was going in front of a jury unless your friends were there to testify under oath in support, and then maybe not even then!

My "rebate" with the mags, ammo and mag loader went just fine, My receipt had the date, store it was purchased from, make and model but no serial number on it. Took a month from when i filled it out online to when i received it.

This is quoted from their own online rebate form.
"Upload a copy of your sales receipt (dated, store-identified sales receipt that clearly shows the item purchased.) *"
It says nothing about it requiring a serial number on it.

They never did put the rebate on the site to check the status though so i didn't know it went through till i received a email from fedex saying i had a package coming with a tracking number in it and it was coming from
"SAW
Paducah, KY 42003

Most have been a Fluke, since on both of my Rebate forms there was a space and it asked for the Serial No. which i filled in.

Hopefully mine will mail soon since my last rebate showed up with my 1st on Milano as of 3 days ago.

I hope they combine both my orders and wonder if signature is required? Since am not home a lot of times!

Oh it asks for the serial number elsewhere on the form but it dose not ask or require it to be on the copy of the receipt, that's all i was trying to clear up.

Mine didn't require a signature, they just left the package at the door.

I got my rebate two days ago. Purchased a .45 from Palmetto State Armory (over the counter, not ordered online) and submitted rebate on June 27th. My name NEVER appeared on Milano's site even as late as last week. Never got any notification that they had accepted or were processing my rebate.

A friend bought 3 Shields and submitted rebates online. Checking Milano website and it only showed one, but all 3 arrived in the mail a few days apart.

Glad it finally got to you!
My first rebate was around May 5th, got the check in mid August... I think they were processed out of order. Just done randomly.

Bought a used shield for my wife for $300 no box, two mags, and a box of ammo, in the Bank parking lot (legal in Indiana). I bet the original owner got a rebate, maybe why they were selling it so cheaply. So far the wife's fired around 300 rounds through it and seems to be happy with it.

Patience, it will be shipped shortly. I had to wait close to 15 weeks before my rebate arrived!

I don't get why for a rebate such as ammo, magazines, and loader you could not get them from the gun dealer you purchased from. Why do I have to wait 12 weeks when it could have been handled in store? Seems much easier to do and cut out 3rd party middle men for the rebate. Also for the $75 checks, why not just cut the price in store $75?

Because they want your info for future marketing purposes. Three months for me and counting ... not that I'm counting

Afternoon Update: Rebate showed up in today's mail. I looked up the submission date and found it was actually 17 weeks and two days ... not that I'm counting.

Thread drift: The 75 bucks is nice, but pretty sure it didn't cover the two new additional magazines or the 1000 bullets from Missouri Bullet Co. Those bullets are the coated 124 g. Small Ball, loaded in front of +P load of CFE-Pistol. Once I got em short enough - 1.06" - nary a mishap in loading, ejecting, or firing. Amazingly light felt recoil and accurate enough, although I had to adjust my ingrained revolver grip.

Well OK try this one! Sent my rebate in on 20 July, the ammo one! The package with everything showed up YESTERDAY! Over 90 days since submission. Now here is the "interesting" part. If my memory serves the rebate was for 2 - 7 round mags plus the ammo plus the reloader. Well mine was all that BUT not the 7 round mags but the 8 rounders.
Interesting!

Milano sent me a notice about my Shield on 9/20 with no explanation why it was rejected so I called and they said it didn't show a price. Sent.
Received a second notice for the same Shield. Called and they said no invoice number. It's right at the top in BIG print. This is the second time I've received a notice.

S&W CS is not going to be happy when I call. LOL

3.5 months since originally submitted.

Marketing, product price protection and because, according to a recent study I read on rebate redemption, right around half of all eligible purchasers fail to send in for their rebate. The reason (other than waiting for my money) I hate mail in rebates, especially on big ticket items, is that sales tax is paid on the whole amount before rebate. If it's something I'm going to buy anyway, I'll buy it and send in for the rebate but a mail-in rebate has never convinced me to buy something I wasn't already going to buy.

Dilbert was in a marketing meeting, and they said their new product was going to cost $1 mil, with a $999,900 rebate. Dilbert said "who would fall for something like that" and the marketing guy said their target market would be people that never sent in their rebates.

I think manufacturers do rebates, because they know a lot of people never send them in. I know I often forget to do it.

The rebate amount is significant enough to get a bigger participation. A $1 mail in probably not, but a $75 oh yeah. I even did a $10 on Valvoline. Every little bit helps.

Same here, I don't do rebates and in fact I'll generally buy another brand without the rebate. I'm to old to be cheated again.

I have tried following the link to check the status of my rebate but every time that I fill in the requested information it comes back with no information. I finally called 866-963-7933 and was told that if you filed online to go to (Milano Online Rebate Inquiry) and put in your last name and zip code ONLY.

I did that and at least this time I got a response however it indicates that my information was not complete and would be returned to me within 3 weeks. I am guessing that because my store receipt from the gun shop did not state that the purchase was for a S&W .45 Shield that it was rejected. I called back and tried to go further by speaking with someone as directed but the mailbox is full and you cannot leave your name and phone number.

Not sure if that voids me out or if I will have an opportunity to check with the store for a better receipt.

I'll let you know.

I bought my shield and submitted the rebate online 8/18. Showed up on milano site around 10/18.

Today I got a fedex email notification of a shipment weighing 3 lbs. I haven't ordered anything else, so I think it's my ammo/mag package. Which would put the time from submission to received right around 3 months (delivery expected on the 17th).

Can't be sure yet, but curious if others' ammo packages shipped fedex out of Paducah, KY?

I understand people's frustration with the rebate. I didn't feel great waiting for my submission to show online. But I think you just have to try and forget about rebates, and wait.

I honestly don't think S&W would knowingly try to "rip off" any consumer, but from prior participation in rebate programs, and reading about this one, I think they could do a much better job of managing it. I think they should just offer an "instant credit" if you buy your gun through a licensed FFL, and let the dealer get his/her money back from S&W. That would seem a lot better to me than the frustration and delays that their programs always seem to generate.

I have never figured out the reason for rebates ... Why not just discount the item ?
It would save man hours , not having to process the rebate ...
