Shield Rebate Rip Off
I got a letter regarding my rebate today...
MPC Inc said they were denying my rebate due to "Invalid Receipt", when I had included my receipt from PSA that had all the required information. (heck, it even had my Visa last 4# !)
Good job Smith and Wesson, you scammed me out of $75.
Enjoy it. Guess what brand I won't be buying in the future?

Did you try calling them and asking them why it was denied?? I think that would be the first thing I would try before calling it a ripoff.

Call and find out why it was denied. I did mine online and the file with the reciept did not come through right. All I had to do was resend the reciept and all was good. Don't give up.

Hope you get it right with them. But it is the reason I do not do rebates. It puts the onus on we the customer rather than on them just charging less. Some folks have no problem. I will never have a problem as I don't do rebates.

You're FAR more likely to get a successful resolution by taking it up with S&W than us. But I understand your need to vent.

Me too, I'd say your submission must not have had all the info listed. Serial # and date of purchase were mandatory.

I did the same thing, I printed out my PSA receipt and sent it in. [?]
They didn't bother saying what was "invalid" about it. It had all the info they required. They just checked that box and said denied.
Sorry for venting, but yes I kind of needed to...
It adds to the frustration when the corporations make themselves unreachable.
I looked for a phone# or email address for both S&W and MPS Inc, I could not find either for either. All I found for both websites were forms that I had to fill out all my contact info and maybe they would contact me later.
(MPS Inc has a ph# to check the status of your rebate. haha Mine 'has been denied'. Thanks, I already knew that.)
Thanks for letting me vent.

I uploaded the receipt (scan to a pdf file) when filling it out online. I already received my rebate about two months ago. I would definitely call S&W and see what is going on.

I did PSA as well. Scanned, uploaded, received rebate within stated time frame.
I would think that all of PSAs receipts would be the same with all the same info, so that's kinda strange that yours got denied.
Sorry about the hassle though, and hope you get things worked out.

rebate
If you get it straightened out, watch your mail very closely. The check is mailed in a tiny plain white envelope with a return address you've never heard of. I'm sure a few rebate checks have been tossed in the garbage

I'm beginning to think I might have tossed mine. Started this whole rebate sideshow by submitting online in early April. Between then and now my rebate was denied for an "invalid receipt" and I had to resubmit through the mail. Latest thing on the Milano site was from July 7th and shows a rebate amount of $75. Been over ten weeks since July 7th (and over 23 weeks since I first submitted) and I haven't seen a check yet. Either it hasn't been mailed to me just yet or I might have mistaken it for some sort of junk mail and tossed it.

Nothing to do with Smith & Wesson. Everything to do with the company handling the rebates. The original receipt is required, generally, for any rebate for any product, ever. Not their fault. But go ahead and leave us for Glock, or Walther, or some garbage from Turkey.

I filed mine online and there was some specific information that was stated that needed to be on the receipt. I believe that the gun purchased had to be clearly identified on the receipt. My receipt only showed an amount with no mention of it being for a S&W Shield. I hope that mine is not denied.
Is there a web site to check your rebate status???
S&W can be reached at 1-800-331-0852

Try this. Didn't work for me. Now I'm worried.
Milano Online Rebate Inquiry
They did supply a number if it didn't work 866-963-7933 They do state that if you filed in online that it takes 3-4 weeks to be in their system.

I filed for mine on June 25th. About 3 weeks ago they finally started saying they had received it. This morning it is saying that payment was sent on the 14th of this month. Others have said it's taken almost a couple of weeks to receive once it's shipped. It should be about 12 weeks total by the time I get it. I would like to point out that it is actually not likely that this was all an evil plot for S&W to "scam" you out of $75. I do think that Molino, the company actually responsible for sending the rebate checks, is not very efficient.

Sent in on line 6-23-17
No confirmation that they had received it until some time around the end of August when it showed up on Milano site.

Good advice from OLDSTER. Ever since I thew away a check about 30 years ago that came in an envelope like you describe, I at least open all mail, even stuff that looks like junk, before tossing.

Mine will be in the form of 2 mags, 2 boxes of ammo, and a loader. Hopefully I don't throw it away by mistake.

Sometimes people will send in a bogus receipt form. They take down a serial number, make up a fake sales receipt and send it in. Check to see if it didn't happen to you. Don't blame Smith & Wesson. They have issued over 250,000 rebates.

Yup, just received mine in today's mail (submitted on-line around the end of June), came in a small approx 3 1/2 by 6 1/2 inch envelope, with return address of MPS, Inc, Cinnaminson (is that anything like cinnamon), NJ, definitely gave the appearance of junk mail. I would bet that many of these get thrown out not realizing it is a mini-check in there.

I purchased my Shield on May 30th from PSA and just got my check yesterday, I just looked at the copy of the receipt from PSA and it has all the information you said your receipt had. The only difference is I (HAND WROTE THE SERIAL # OF THE GUN ON MY RECEIPT) before submission. PSA sends you a separate confirmation for shipping which includes the serial #. The receipt does not include the serial #. My guess is this mistake for non payment could possibly be on you and not Milano.

I agree 100% with the above, when i bought my Shield from "Gunbuyer" i got a receipt which had last 4 digits of my Credit card and did list the make and cal. and when i actually received the Gun it had an "Invoice " which also had the "Serial No." and i made sure that was what i sent in!
So S&W did not "Screw" You out of anything, but you simply did not include all the required Info, so don't bitch because you messed up and simply sent in the Correct/required copy and all will be well!

after filling out the rebate form on line, I called s&w, asked about rebate. Was told it would take 8-12 wks before being issued a check. wth? I was told by s&w the reason was because cabellas takes a long time to send s&w the money for the purchace. And people wonder why some go to Indiana to purchase guns. cabellas by me is in cook county,Ill. I will wait for the weeks to go by, but I also think it' a ripoff.

How in the He-l is it a "Rip-Off" ! You will in about 3 months get the Rebate, every rebate i ever entered said just like this one 8-12 weeks!
This is "Normal"!

PSA info is confusing and the long delay before things happen at Milano doesn't help. My first two Shields from PSA arrived with nothing in the box as far as paperwork. I shot a pic of the website order page and laid it on the two pistol boxes with serial numbers visible and hoped that would work since the serial number isn't shown on the webpage. A month later nothing had popped up on the website so for my next lot of pistols from PSA I instead included a tag that came with the pistols showing serial numbers but none of my info as buyer. One of those four submissions was just rejected yesterday for lack of proper receipt(but I don't know if that is for one or all four pistols since they didn't say and didn't list a serial number).
As the deadline for filing the rebate was approaching at the end of July and nothing had yet been posted to the Milano website, I resubmitted the last four pistols again using the screenshot and boxes ploy(my first two PSA pistols using this method had by then been approved and paid along with two from Whitakers that had proper receipts from the start). That would have been July 30th and now there's all sorts of things posted to the Milano website. They show my first four pistols accepted and $75 each(never have showed a shipping date for payment but those four checks have cashed).
As for the four pending rebates, they now show one denied that I'm guessing relates to the rejection letter I got yesterday and five more showing 'accepted' and $75. It can't be five since there are only four pistols and four serials but whatever they do will be done. If I get more rebate checks I'm happy. If I don't I'm less happy but not surprised. Through an abundance of honor, if I receive five more rebate checks I'll not cash one of them.
PSA's invoice/lack thereof and Milanos two month wait for posting, three month wait for payment has made this all much more complicated than it needs to be but so far,....fingers crossed,....it's been working out.
Oh, btw, the Milano rejection letter said DO NOT RESUBMIT ONLINE, but too late,.....I did that over seven weeks ago. I don't see any reason to respond to the rejection letter with a receipt I never received.

Common Sense should tell anybody that if you don't sent receipt with Serial then "How in the He-l" are they to know what gun you bought, one could send in a sale receipt 10X without a Serial and get 10 rebates ! NOT!

Kinda missed the point. Sending in the info that didn't list a serial number worked. Sending in the info that DID list the serial number was rejected. Did I mention that PSA's info was confusing. They will not send you a receipt that appears to have all the proper info included,.....they will claim that a screenshot from your order page will suffice but that doesn't seem reasonable since it does not list a serial number.

So your PO'd at Remington because you tried to scam them. I'll bet you were laughing when all your family members went and bought the ammo.
Next time, don't send in the rebate forms all from the same address. Tell me why I should feel sorry for you?

So you tried to screw Remington by doing straw purchases of ammo and only got one rebate to which you were not entitled instead of three and it's Remington's fault???

How is buying their product that's offering a rebate a scam?? Before you jump to conclusions, read the post again. All different people, all different addresses, and all were adults. I recommended Golden Saber to them because I've had good luck with it over the years.
With the rebate factored in, it was cheaper than plinking ammo and they get quality ammo for self defense. The fact that I paid for it for them was just my gift to them. I didn't keep it, it's their ammo, they bought/ordered it. I just gave them the money because they didn't have the funds.
Not asking for anyone to feel sorry, just warning people about the rebates. Many programs are ran by third parties.

How's that a straw purchase?? They bought it for themselves, their usage. They didn't buy it for me. They didn't have the funds so I gave them money. It cost more than it should have so yes, I got ripped off.

You admitted you gave them money to buy ammo I'll bet none of them had the weapon it went in. You said YOUR out $200.00. Get your story straight and come back. You tried to pull a fast one. I'm glad you got burned. By the way, I'm looking to buy some Hornady .38 Spl ammo. Could you send me the money.

No, some guys are unable to access their info on the Milano website unless they use the zip+4 number. I've never had to do that myself. You were not required to submit with your zip+4 number.

I got ripped off too...I bought my Shield 45 when they first came out, before any rebates were announced. Now I am disgruntled.
(Just being ironical...or somethin'. )
