Cool Intro and Custom M&p 2.0

Whats going on everyone, just recently joined the forums. My main goal of joining this forum is to post my build progress on my M&P 2.0. As you all know the gun is brand new (basically), so i am still waiting for many things to come out for the platform. As of right now i am just posting a picture of it as it sits right now, but i will create a build thread for when I get my main parts in, such as the flatty trigger kit from apex, custom slide work, and so on.

So as of right now the gun currently has the Springer Precision Magwell extension, as well as the springer precision 140MM mag extension. I HIGHLY recommend these products. They are super good quality and having that magwell extension really keeps your grip on the gun.

Mods in my next post:

I have the threaded barrel from KKM Precision coming in later tonight

Texas Black Rifle Company compensator

Apex Tactical Flat forward set trigger

Custom slide work- Not sure if i will do the cutting or have another company do it. not sure yet

Here is the gun as it sits now. My main goal will be to customize my gun and provide you all with the best possible work recommendations as well as parts for the gun. I see a lot of posts with things that arent very clear about this gun such as triggers and barrels fitting, so i decided to put all of the info and knowledge i gain from building this gun, onto this forum. So stay tuned and definitely look out for my next post. I will post the next post link in this thread so you guys get a notification... i think thats how it works. Anyways, thanks!

UPDATE: Sept. 26th

Got my KKM Precision threaded barrel in as well as my Texas Black Rifle mini comp. Just waiting for apex to release the flat trigger.

Are you setting it up for competition? If so, what game?

I am a competition shooter and a common mistake is to say "I have to practice to get ready for competition." Unless you are taking formal training, the best thing to do, once you are acquainted with the use of the gun, is to attend some matches. You will learn what you need to practice in a hurry.

The accessories you list will put you in USPSA Open Division.

i guess i dont want to make a fool of myself at a competition. Trust me, i would love to go to a competition, but at the same time if i do something i like to make sure i at least know what im getting myself into. but i will definitely check out the USPSA and see if there are any local competitions that i can either enter or observe. This is why i joined the forum, so i can learn haha

I have made a fool of myself on numerous occasions during several decades of various sorts of competitive shooting.
As long as you aren't unsafe, you will get nothing but support. It might get a little jovial at times, but still supportive.

Might I suggest shooting the gun a lot before wasting your money on extras that you may not need? It is best to become intimately familiar with a gun the way it comes BEFORE changing things.

Skill will outperform magwells, compensators and fancy triggers every time! And honestly, after 30+ years of shooting and competing for any of those mods to make even the slightest bit of difference you really need to be a top level shooter.

The main thing about the add-ons the OP likes is that they will throw him into USPSA Open Division.
I would leave the gun stock or nearly so and enter it in Production and IDPA SSP. More opportunities to shoot, less cost.

Another thing to consider,If you are going to install an APEX Forward Set Trigger then you should really consider converting your M&P to a thumb safety. The FSS trigger makes the trigger very 1911 like. Short take up, light weight. The 1911 has a thumb safety. An M&P that has the FSS should have a thumb safety too...at least in my opinion. Others may disagree..I'm sure that some will...

In all honesty im building the gun the way i am because its fun. I do the same thing with cars. i enjoy taking something stock and turning it into something cool. am i expecting these mods to make me a good shooter? no haha, but i will enjoy seeing the gun when its done. Shooting USPSA is something that was introduced to me on this post and i will definitely look into it. as for the flat trigger and a safety, i dont carry with a round in the chamber. I know a lot of people would probably disagree with me on that point, but to me thats my safety. i practicing drawing a chambering a round at the same time, so god forbid i ever need to draw my weapon. i will be ready.

Pretty hard to make a fool of yourself if you just watch.........and remember, Competition is like skiing. We all fell down a time or 2 while learning. Very few if any folks would criticize you.....

Oh, you'll make a fool of yourself recently in comp shooting....its part of learning. The key is knowing what went wrong and trying, trying to improve over time. Don't let it intimidate you- the only one you're only really competing against yourself.

Compensators are certainly helpful in holding down recoil and flip.
That is why they have their own Division in USPSA and are not allowed at all in IDPA.
