Default Can 2.0 M&P40 be converted to 9mm?

Was wondering if anyone knows for certain if a full sized or compact 40 cal M&P 2.0 can be converted to a 9mm by a simply installing and aftermarket 9mm barrel like you could do with the original M&P's.

Thanks,
DJager/Art

The originals could be converted with an OEM 9mm barrel. Seems like most people who did it that way didn't have any problems with accuracy or reliability when using 9mm mags.

I got about 300 9mm rounds through my 40c without a bobble so far.

yes it will work. buy a conversion barrel. tighter lock up in the hood and all around. factory 9mm barrel would be a waste of time in my opinion since they are harder to find and not that much cheaper than a better quality conversion from storm lake. of course if you want the best, you can get the apex conversion barrel.

Is the barrel actually any different on the 2.0 than it was on the original? I had one of the originals (gave it to my son) in 40S&W and ran way more than 7k rounds of 9mm through it with pretty much zero issues using an OEM 9mm barrel and 9mm mags. There were guys who would explain in great detail why it wouldn't work. They would post pics showing the dimensional differences and I would post a pic of one of my targets with the center shot out of it. Accuracy was equal to or better than the same pistol with the original 40S&W barrel. Have the new ones changed that much internally? I would think that if they use the same barrel it should work but I don't know a lot about the new 2.0's.

Just want to add that if they use the same barrel as the original M&P you can get them from Midway for $79.99. The cheapest "conversion" barrel I've found is more than twice that. Also, many of the conversion barrels need at least some pre-fitting to get them installed correctly. I'm sure that the conversion barrels are nice and they may even work better than just dropping in an OEM barrel. From my own experience though they aren't really necessary. At least on the original.
