Question What is it worth

My wife owns a M&P 9mm shield which she has difficulty shooting. I added a Apex tactical trigger and a Crimson Trace green laser but they haven't helped. She shoots my S&W 357 much better. We are thinking about selling the Shield and obtaining her a wheel gun. The Shield is about a year old and comes with 2 additional 8 rd. mags, so the total of mags are (1) 7 rd. mag and (3) 8 rd. mags. also the Apex and the laser. How much should she expect from the sale of this firearm?

Well, this is always tricky, but I have seen new ones for $300.00, and a used .40 ror $200. It's pretty much a buyers market right now. The mags and laser might add some value, but I'd say $300 is about it. You might consider just keeping the pistol and buying a revolver outright. Check Gunbroker and see what they are selling for used.

Good luck!

Not a good time to sell. I would keep it a while and see how the market goes. Definitely don't trade, you probably wouldn't get $200 for it.

Somebody needs to go to a range that rents handguns and let the wife shoot several and decide on the pistol that she likes best. Picking out a handgun for your significant other seldom works.

I would add that depending on potential buyers, the Apex may need to come out. There are those who would like the modified part, and others who may prefer stock (to possibly keep under warranty, they like the stock trigger, etc).
Only speaking for myself, but if I was in the market for a used gun I would not consider one modified. I'd say the same for a used car.....

As noted, pricing for a used Shield may not run high right now considering the rebate programs and sales it has seen lately. Might just be one of those "cheaper to keep" items right now.

Around here it would probably be about $50 more than a stock used one. Stock ones go for $199 - $225 depending on sights and amount of mags

I can only speak for me but if I were buying it would be worth what a used stock Shield 9 is worth.

The laser you can keep and no offense but I don't trust do it yourself gunsmiths.

You would be better off parting it out. Sell the laser, apex trigger and extra mags individually. Figure 50-75% what you paid for them. Then sell or trade in the gun.

I would pay about $200 for one right now. They are about as common as fire ants in my back yard.

After market parts get dimes on the dollar. Sell the laser independently. It will bring much more value that way. The trigger is a cost you're going to have to eat.

Here in CA, because of the recent rebate, a used Shield is worth about $200.

Just keep the Shield as a back-up car/truck/fishing tackle box gun cause the market is flooded and the value is minimal. As good as they are, there are just too many out there.
