Shield takedown problem
I've had my 9mm shield for a couple of months and I like everything about it. The field stripping has been easy and the pistol has been accurate and not a single issue at the range. This morning I set up to clean some of my pistols, the shield absolutely cannot disassemble this time around, no matter what I do, never had a problem before. The slide stops when it is protruding from the front about 1/4" and can't be pulled out any further. Any thoughts or remedies?

Give us your disassembly procedure in steps. Maybe something very simple going on.

Check to be sure clear of ammo, safety on, eject mag, lock slide back, push down lever in magwell, rotate disassembly lever 90 degrees, release slide lock, pull slide forward. Haha, yes, magazine is out.

With the slide installed on the frame and the Rotating Take Down Lever in the horizontal position, looking through the notch in the slide right above the Rotating Take Down Lever do you see a spring, and if so, does it look properly seated in the groove on the side of the locking block?
Here's a pic of the spring I'm referring to with the red arrow pointing to it. Shield Slide Stop Spring Orientation Pic

Sounds like it could be the same issue I and some others had
Not the start I was hoping for with my new 9mm Shield

Maybe this will help you. A forum member posted a photo of his spring with the slide removed.
This issue is showing up occasionally on the forum now. I'd just send it back to S&W for them to fix.

Oldmainer, I haven't had an issue with mine so I've never tried reseating one so I can't help you with any tips/tricks. I have read of others managing to reseat it but I'm not sure I'd trust it to stay in place if I did. If it were me I'd call CS and have them send you a return label and let them fix it.

Well I just managed to get the spring back into place and it disassembled like it should. Cleaned and gave the spring a good look over and made sure it was in place. Reassembled the gun, and disassembled 3 more times without a hitch. I will call CS and get it back to them to get it right. Thanks for your help with this issue!
