Default M&P 22 Compact

I've had this little gun for a year or so and really like it except for the trigger. I shipped it off today to Bill Springfield in CO. I think I got his name off this site. He told me he can get 3lbs nice and crisp. I would be very happy with that. I'm excited, can't wait to get it back. He charges $65 for this gun which includes return shipping.

Thx for the tip.

However trigger in my is ok... perhaps Apex flat trigger would make happy...

That sound very reasonable. Let us know how it shoots when you get it back.

My 22c is actually quite accurate when I shoot it slowly but when I pick up the pace my accuracy really suffers due to the trigger, short sight radius and low weight with the trigger being the biggest issue. That I am comparing it to my other two 22 handguns, a S&W 41 and S&W 617, doesn't help either. Obviously very different guns.

Th trigger on my 22C was rather gritty when new. Now with close to 1000 rounds through it, it has smoothed up nicely. The light weight makes it more challenging to shoot but that forces me to really focus on the fundamentals which I see as a good thing. It's accurate when I am!

Holy ****, he's still around? I wouldn't let Bill Springfield work on anything. Might want to Google him. He destroyed a Mosquito for me a few years ago, and made an AR trigger unusable. Fingers crossed for you. Please report back on your results.

No needs to Google him. He is easy to find:

I exchanged few emails with him recently asking about flat trigger options for M&P22C.
Hopefully he learned on own mistakes and did a great job since then.

I meant Google him to see the reviews, not to find him.

His "fix" to shorten the reset on my AR was to drop a big blob of weld (undressed) onto the bottom of trigger to prevent its forward movement. Trigger could not be returned to the rifle, and after the "blob" was filed to even get the trigger pin inserted, the trigger wouldn't reset at all. Many similar stories out there.

All that said, I sincerely hope this works out of you.

oh, I see... Good to know he is not a perfect one....
Anyway, this thread made me looking around for better trigger solution.
There were few good suggestions and I decided to do something by myself.

Polishing trigger bar, firing pin safety plunger and smoothing hammer notch doesn't sound complicated.
As I've mentioned, I cannot say the current trigger is bad... but why don't give a try and make it better?

Got my Compact back from Bill Springfield today. He did an excellent job on the trigger. Breaks nice and clean @ 3 lbs. Factory was very close to 5. I've gotten several negative reply's about him, but I would recommend him for a better trigger on the M&P 22 compact anyday.
