Default Slide interchangeability

I have seen a youtube video showing that the slide from a Shield Plus will interchange with the slide from a Shield 2.0. The fit seemed to be perfect and the firearms both dry fired well. The poster even put 5 rounds in each mag & hand cycled them without any issues. However he didn't live fire the firearms. Has anyone done this and put any rounds through the guns? I'm curious because if this works I wouldn't need to purchase another set of XS Big Dot sights. Just change the slide to whichever Shield I wanted to carry that day.

I don't have the answer, but do you have a Shield 2.0 and a Plus? Was wondering if they're the same dimension. Because I bought a cheap Blackhawk A.R.C holster for Shield 2.0, and their website said it fits the Plus, but it doesn't. It's too short, so it's tight even if I remove the trigger guard retention screw. I emailed Blackhawk last week, but no reply.

I don't have a Shield Plus yet. But I'm pretty sure that I read that the holster from a Shield would fit a Shield Plus. I did see that S&W has a model of the Shield Plus that has a 4" barrel. The 1st Shield and the Shield 2.0 have a 3.1" barrel. Does your Plus have the 4" or the 3.1"?

I have the 3.1" Shield Plus. The instructions say it's supposed to slip right into the holster with the retention screw removed. I have to shove it in and it will not fall out even if i shake it upside down

That's GOOD! It means that it won't inadvertently fall out on the dance floor when you do cartwheels, or back flips!

(Sorry... reminded me of an AD article from a couple Years back)

Hello....first hand knowledge! All shield kydex holsters, " do not fit perfectlly in a shield plus....the mag release is wider and slightly oval on other side...when i originally put plus in kydex holster. Mag catch pushed kydex out on both sides. Nothing a lil heat to mold kydex cant fix. My other kydex holster fit perfect only becuase it didnt cover the mag release button....and from what i see. Imo... all remained the same, except for !!!.....mag release button including mag release spring, trigger shoe, magazines and recoil guide rod assembly (green color vs red on 1.0 and 2.0.

Since you're talking about variations of the same model, this probably won't be an issue, but: when you're considering slide swaps, put the frames side by side and make sure the part of the frame that stops the slide going rearward is in the same place in both.
