Love my new 2.0 FS, but carrying the Shield 2.0 IWB without an undershirt would not be fun. I’ll keep my 1.0 with the rubber talon grips.

Back in June a S&W rep. told me that there were no plans for a 2.0 Shield, despite the rebate. What happened?

OK...so they gave it the 45 grip texture and trigger....big deal..I already the 45...they could have done much better on a 2.0 9mm shield.

This ^^^

I have a Shield 9mm 1.0 and a Shield 45. I see no reason to "upgrade" my 9mm to 2.0.

Also as a previous poster has said, when I need to wear IWB without an extra shirt, my 9mm is the ONLY way to go. Tried once with the .45 and that will never happen again.

I love my .45 and 9mm Shield, prefer rhe Talon on both and can't really detect a difference on the trigger, seems like they should have done a bit more. Bad news, I want to sell my 9mm wN/S becuase I prefer it matched my .45 safety model (no need to tell me I shouldn't have a safety, my preference). Triaining is hard with two similar guns when one doesn't require the safety. Probably loose another $50 with that announcement. Bad enough they flooded the market recently with the rebates (I understand why, just bad timing for me personally).

Neither do I. I have the Talon rubberized grip which works great, and I have no issues with the trigger. There doesn't seem to be any compelling reason to upgrade.

I just looked at the specs, matches the old dimensions, but looks to be 2 ounces lighter. Lighter, improved trigger, maybe not upgrade worthy. But if it is the same price, it might make it more competitve for new buyers.

I said the same thing until I sanded the grip texture a little with fine sand paper. Now I carry the 45 every day. Sanding with fine sand paper leaves no blemishes on the gun but your skin can feel the difference. Try it, you’ll love it.

I have a 9 shield but I thought the 45 had a much better trigger. It was smoother and more consistent. I keep shooting mine waiting for the trigger to smooth out but so far nothing. Also, I'm kinda surprised at the sharp recoil of the 9mm. I don't know if the 2.0 will change but my 1.0 Shield reminds me more of shooting a 40sw. Just thought it was a little unusual

When reviewers started weighing the 2.0 compact it was about 2 or 3 ounces heavier than what S&W listed. I think S&W started listing the weight of the gun without a magazine for the 2.0 series. Weight matters in small carry guns. If they did shave a couple of ounces off it would be nice but I kind of doubt they did.

2.0 trigger or not it would still be Apexed. So I would essentially be upgrading for the grip texture. No thanks...

I figured it would only be the 40 and 9 updated with the shield 45 features. From what I can tell my may 2017 manuf shield 9mm already has a trigger that's upgraded from the earlier shield models. We'll have to see what some reviewers think although most of them will probably compare it to the earlier model shields (with the no reset trigger, etc)....

Upgrading the sights would be nice as well.

I also have a 2017 9mm Shield and find the trigger quite adequate for my purposes. I know that it's head and shoulders above the Glock 17 and 19 (both Gen 5) which I used to have.

You should be able to pull off a trade with someone who has a safety version and doesn't want one.

I ordered one, since I am going to all .40, and moving all my 9mm stuff. I carry OWB only, and will put Talon grip on it, and it should be fine.

I did Apex and Talon and the Walther PPS was better out of the box than the souped up Shield (I did put Talons on it); then was shooting my Walther 99AS on the same day as the PPS and the trigger and features were so much better for me than either the Shield and PPS that I tried out the P99 compact AS and bingo....I had my EDC!

DA/SA with smooth 8 lb DA and 4 lb crisp SA and short rerset; Striker fired; decocker on the top of the frame, took my 99AS mags so either 10 or 15 rounds, paddle mag release, and small enough for pocket carry (in my baggier jeans). I added Trijicons and love 'em.

The Shield went when I got the PPS and that went when I got the PPc. I really wanted to love the Shield as I have first, second and third S&W 9s....but the other guns were just better.

Don't understand why they can't do a better out-of-the-box trigger, Walther can.

I have a trade offered on Armslist locally, I am suprised I have nit found anyone to swap yet, seems like rhe no safety model is much more popular.
