Yes. Not a steady diet but if you shoot a box or two occasionally you'll be fine

Just about any modern pistol can run the hot loads. Again, not a steady diet, but self defense, for sure.

Here is what the Shield owner's manual has to say about the use of +P+ ammo (page 11):

“Plus-P-Plus” (+P+) ammunition must not be used in Smith & Wesson firearms. This marking on the ammunition designates that it exceeds established industry standards, but the designation does not represent defined pressure limits and therefore such ammunition may vary significantly as to the pressures generated and could be DANGEROUS.

You might be OK, or you might not if you use it. Just make sure no one else is around if you decide to fire some. If you get a kaboom, and someone else is injured, you could be in for a heap of legal difficulties.
