Nice!!!!
Hi all,
Being new to the M&P world, I did not realize the absolute coolness of this situation. I obtained a 17 rd. M&P mag for my new M&P 2.0 C, and expected it to be a mag that would protrude from the bottom of the grip, like a G17 mag in a G19.
However, the mag fits flush and is the same exact external size as the stock 15 rd. mags. Is this just something I missed with this pistol line? I was extremely pleased, and will now have to get several more of the 17 rd. mags for carry.
What a nice unexpected feature. An 18 round pistol the size of a G19...YES!!!

I had understood these would protrude and that was the reason that S&W included the 2 "sleeves" with the M&P 2.0 Compacts?

Yeah right.
More like a 17 round mag that fits the gun perfectly but only holds 15 rounds.

They make a 15rd M&P 2.0 that is not the compact. It was just 2 rounds less. The compact I have is 15rnds and has the adapters for 17rd mags. You might want to check which M&P you have. Chances are it’s just a 2.0, still a great gun just has a 4.25” barrel and is slightly taller.

Excellent point. Maybe he has a Colorado 15 round FS magazine. The OP could take the 15 round magazine apart and check whether there's a filler at the bottom.

Hey all,
Well, I would have attached a photo, but since the BS on blocking accounts by Photobucket, I was unable to link it to the photo I took. The two magazines are absolutely identical in external size. One has 15 rd witness holes and the other has 17. The 17 fits fully flush like the 15 round mags do. It must be the follower has deeper legs that block the extra two rounds. I will take one apart later today to verify this.
I feel pretty sure its just going to be longer feet at the base of the mag follower.
Take care,
JJ

In that case, you probably have Colorado/New Jersey 15 round magazines (which are blocked to limit the capacity to 15).

Hi all,
Well, it wasn't the follower, it was ten extra compressed spring coils at the bottom of the spring. All fixed now!!!!!! My 15's are now 17's. What a great gun!

Here are the problem springs!!! Cut off from the bottom of the 15 round spring to eliminate the blockage.

So you have the full size M2.0, not a compact. A good bit bigger than a Glock 19.

No....
My 2.0 is the same size as the G19/23. That's the main reason l even looked into it from the start. I liked its fit in my hand much better than my G19/23. As great a gun as this is, S&W has made their nomenclature very confusing...unnecessarily so. IMO, they really should have come up with a better name for this whole series...maybe 2.0 compact/midsize/full, or something along those lines.
Again, I'm new to this line of weapons, and maybe l' m missing something, but my 2.0 is the same size as my G19/23. It's a bonus that it holds two more rounds in 9mm than my G19, and fits me much better.

It may be similar in size but if 17rd mags sit flush you don’t have the compact. The size difference is negligible to some. There have been many people who thought they were getting the compact but bought the standard. As long as you like it, that’s all that matters.

When l get back home from my ride l'll post a photo of the gun and the mags. I will stand corrected if l'm wrong, but my gun is the same size as my G19/23. The mags do not extend past the frame bottom and/or require the use of a space.
Whatever it's called, it's a perfect match for me!

The compact comes with 2 spacers to fill the gap. I will take pics next to my 19 and 23 when I get home

How about posting the model number from the box. I guess that will make it easy to verify whether your gun is a 2.0 Compact.

The model number from the box is 11758. I assumed the name was in reference to this....
M&P | Smith & Wesson
It appears that everyone assumed I had the smaller Compact model that is similar to the Glock 26/27. I apologize if that's what occurred. Again, I'm new to this line and learning the turf. My weapon is the exact same as that pictured by Backon4. The 17 round mag I have will not fit in the weapon with a mag spacer. I tried and it does not engage the mag catch. The factory 17 round mag I have is exactly the same external size as the 15 round ones. Apparently S&W blocked them for the 15 round limited states??? I was able to correct that limitation with a quick snip and now the factory 15's are 17's, and they function perfectly. I have not handled the longer barrel M&P 2.0, and I guess from all this exchange that it's grip is the exact same size as the weapon I have.
Whatever size anyone wants to call this pistol, I'm loving it because it fits me so well, is functionally perfect, and to get 17+1 in my G-19, I would have a G-17 mag sticking out quite a bit from the base of my G-19.
Again, sorry if I created any confusion with this post, it was not my intention. I was just more than pleasantly pleased that the 17 round mags fit flush. I can't see why S&W did not provide the 17 round mags as standard to the non-limited states. It is, to me anyway, and really great advantage to this weapon. They certainly do fit and function, and who wouldn't want the extra 2 rounds in a free state?
Thanks for everyone's input on this thread. I'll keep reading and learning.

In your first post you referred to your gun as a "M&P 2.0 C". With the original M&Ps the compact model is the 12 round Glock 26 size gun you mentioned. But S&W went a different direction with the 2.0 M&Ps. In the 2.0 series the C model is a 15 round gun that is nearly exactly the same size as a Glock 19. About a half inch less grip and quarter inch shorter barrel than your gun.
I consider both the Glock 19 and M&P 2.0 C to be small full size guns, not really compacts. They are big enough to let most people grip the gun with all their fingers and only give up a couple of rounds compared to the true full size guns. But many people, myself included, find them to be too big to carry on a regular basis. Others think they are the ideal size for a carry gun. I consider my M&P 2.0 C a home defense and range gun that can be carried in a pinch but not my first choice for concealed carry.
Unless you live in Colorado the 17 round magazines are the ones to get. I wish S&W would better describe their different models. You might have ended up with the 15 round magazines because your dealer thought he was ordering one of the new and in demand 2.0 compacts. S&W does not even list the height on their website and that is the main difference between the full size and compact models.

Hi all,
Thanks for all the input. Yes...confirmed as the 4.25" model....good thing is it is still exactly what I wanted, all my nomenclature errors aside! It fits me like a glove, and will still be an off duty carry gun.
It is close enough the size of my 19/23 that it's virtually the same carry for me. I have pretty much always carried the 19/23 as my off-duty guns.
Thanks again to everyone for the info...

............."My weapon is the exact same as that pictured by Backon4"................
But, the MP in the picture that Backon posted is not a 4.25" barrel model. That's the 4" Compact model.
Do you have the part number of the 17rd mags?

I have the M&P 2.0 Compact in .40 (and one in 9mm as well) a a it LITERALLY is IDENTICAL in size to a Glock 19 and 23. 4" barrel, frames are the same width, grip is the same size. Even better fit than the full size. Carries better than a Glock compact as well.
