Default Shield shooting off

Hey everyone. I have a PC shield and just put in an Alpha Wolf drop in barrel to get rid of the porting. I bought it a while back for the better trigger and sights, but didn't want porting. I think I have a total of about 800 rounds through it. Before this i could shoot pretty well with the gun. Now, it seems to be shooting very very low and a little to the left. It was actually embarrassing how off it was for the first half of my day at the range. I put about 150 rounds through it today with one stovepipe jam but it seemed to be a problem with the casing or that specific round. Everything i shot today was 115gr. Could that be my issue? Does the barrel cause that big of a difference? I was having to hold the front sight pretty far above the rear to get hits on target.

Yes a new barrel can cause a shift in point of impact. Different ammunition can also cause a shift. Heavy and light bullets all hit different places at difference distances.
Pick a reliably functioning ammo that you like and adjust the sights to hit dead on with that new barrel, everything should be just fine after that . If you change ammo, check the zero it may need readjustment.

Another thing to MAYBE consider, is that you got very used to the low recoil of the ported barrel and are now compensating for muzzle flip.

Anticipating muzzle flip is not always a rookie move. the only way to tell, is to either have someone watch your hands, or have someone slip a dummy round somewhere in the mag and see if you're flinching downward just before trigger break.

Try a heavier bullet. They will hit higher on the target.

This is an excellent point^^

Also though, I know that lone wolf uses a 1/16 twist in their barrels as well. Probably not going to make much difference in this short of a barrel or shooting 115g ammo but I thought I'd share it anyway. More likely due to what Robz said above or just the difference in where the barrel locks up on your gun...or both... or none... could be aliens. I blame it all on Hillary

Low and left is a VERY common issue... usually it's the shooter.......and the barrel change may have exaggerated the issue, as well..

Every load , bullet, barrel combination will shoot a DIFFERENT poi/poa. This is why when accuracy counts mist Load your own.
Or try all manufacturers and settle on the closest one. Barrel change = COMPLETELY DIFFERENT POI/POA

It's always sunspots and aliens. Everyone knows that. LOL!

I would agree with you both. Especially when the OP got used to the porting after 800 some odd rounds. The OP is probably not use to the "normal" recoil now and is possibly anticipating it a touch. Very easy to do whether it is an experienced shooter or rookie.

I also got a non-ported threaded barrel (True Precision) for a PC9.

Ported vs Muzzle break:

That's at 25+ yards from maybe a 12x12" steel plate. It's a big target, and I usually shoot the Shield 15 yards max at 6" steel plates but the TP barrel didn't shift my POI at all.

I have around 900 rounds through this PC Shield and 600 in a standard Shield.
