Default Night sights for M&P 9 full size

Howdy folks.

I have been shooting for only 7 years now, so as a newbie please forgive my ignorance in terms, etc.

I've had my M&P 9 full size since 2015. With an apex trigger this has been an amazing shooter.

As the years go by the factory sights are getting harder and harder to see.

Would anyone have a recommendation for a good set of night sites? I really don't care for fiber optic or big dot sights, but otherwise I'm open to any ideas.

Thank you,

All the best!

Night sights are good in low light, but actually worse than regular sights in bright light. truglo makes a sight that has fo and tritium combined.

I recommend Trijicon HD sights. Big orange (or yellow) outline on front post, serrated black rears, tritium green at night. Rear sight has plenty of room for one handed slide manipulation. Proven track record.

Truglo TFX Pro's here. Great sights that work in any lighting conditions.

I had a set of trijicon night sights on my M&P 9 and they were difficult to pick up at our indoor range. Outside in daylight they were ok, at night time is where they really stand out. I've since replaced them with a set of competition sights from Dawson precision. Fiber optic front plain black rears. Since the OP doesn't want fiber optic then my next recommendation would be these by AmeriGlo AmeriGlo Smith Wesson Front and Rear Sets, No Shield, I Dot | Up To 23% OFF 4.7 Star Rating Best Rated w/ Free Shipping

Yea that! For my aging eyes, standard tritium fired night sights suck in bright daylight. TFO/TFX sights stand out day or night. I have them on 4 M&P's .

I had a set of Truglo TFO's on my Glock 33,. Yellow rear and green front, they were nice.

Default Night sights

I'd suggest you look a the Ameriglo Hackathorn series. That orange dot is great in daytime and at night the center has a tritium vial that glows green. Coupled with the plain black rear makes sight acquisition fast and sure!

I use these for my 68 year old eyes with good success. They are very visible for me because they are just black in daylight. The front post is narrow and the rear notch is wide. Easy to pick up without big dots, circles or colors.

In the dark the simple two dot night sight dots line up easily and are very visible.

The ledge feature aids with one handed slide manipulations.

They are expensive and worth it.

100 percent agree with this! Happy to send pics to you directly if you'd like to see them on an M&P, I have them on my M&P9 Gen 1 4.25, my M&P9 M2.0 5" FDE (XRs), and my M&P9 M2.0 Compact. I also have used the TruGlo TFX Sights and they are nice, but they do decrease your sight radius (not that it's a big deal for a self-defense handgun).

I also use Fiber Optic for competition and they are outstanding (red or green front, black rear) and you can get a feel for what they all look like on my YouTube Channel: David Valdez

for some more perspective.

Good luck!
