Default M&P 2.0 Compact issue

Picked up a new 2.0 compact Monday. Had it to the range today. Put 150 rounds of Federal 115 Gr. FMJ through it. The gun functioned fine and I shot it well. The problem I was having is that the spent cases didn't seem to be ejecting with much force, landing at my feet and several straight back at me. My Performance Center Shield does not have this problem. Any suggestions?

As long as it functions does it matter where they are ejecting?

Definately try different ammo. The compacts often utilize a stiffer recoil spring for obvious reasons. The ammo however will most likely react differently in your full size 9's.

Higher power loads will eject more forcefully. If they clear the pistol, though, you’re good to go.

I don’t see an issue? Or is it just me? Side note, welcome to the forum.

I'd have a problem with the cases coming straight back at me. That could be distracting if you ever need to use the pistol in a self defense situation. My 3913 dribbles the cases out of the ejection port and they land on my right a foot or two away. With that, I have no problem.

Try 124gr ammo and see what happens. If the empties continue to come straight back at you, contact S&W customer service. The ejector/extractor will need tuning.

As an afterthought, you did clean and lube the pistol as shown in the manufacturers handbook when you received it didn't you? Running it dry or with the original anti corrosion grease that was applied at manufacture may cause the problems you have.

My immediate family owns three M&P9C 1.0 pistols and none of them have ever had the problem the OP is having, so the shorter springs have nothing to do with it. The original 9C 1.0 has a shorter barrel and spring than does the newer 9C 2.0.

I had a similar issue with my M&P9 M2.0 5" FDE, but that was related to the loaded chamber indicator that seems to only be on that pistol. I was able to fix it myself.

RE: my M&P9 M2.0 Compact, it seems to eject just fine with all ammo (I generally use 147 grain Freedom for practice). If you are having extraction issues that continue after a solid cleaning/lubrication, then I would suggest you contact S&W directly to have the issue addressed via the warranty. My 2 cents.

It does to me. Absolutely unacceptable. Any pistol should not eject any authorized load back into my face.

A pistol that ejects into my face is a distraction in a match, and a dangerous nuisance in a fight. Ever had a hot empty lodge between your eye and your shooting glasses? If you ever do, you will see my point.

Any pistol that does that goes back for service, and if it can't be fixed, it goes on the shelf, awaiting its turn as trade fodder for the next gun show.

I did once, from the shooter next to me. Hurt to blink for a week . . .
