I want the P365, but pretty happy with the Shield too...
Had the Shield for quite a while, I love how it shoots. I think I shoot decently well with it. I was torn between the Shield and the Glock 43 but the Shield is such a soft shooter with extra capacity.
I like the size of the Glock 43 but the capacity is the downer.
Enter the Sig P365. I consider it basically the same size as the Glock 43, but with even more capacity than the Shield. Assuming I shoot well with it, then it'd be a no brainer...
But it's not readily available so my last range day I had some fun with the Shield. I typically shoot a bill drill with it, DOT torture to freshen up but not much else.
Might be pretty set on the Shield with how well I'm shooting with it, but can't help but be interested in the 10 round Sig in a G43 size package. When I first got it, I wasn't hitting 6" steel at 10 yards lol.

I have Shields in 9mm and .45, but I admit I am intrigued by the Sig P365. I'm going to wait a few months and see if the new ones work better, but I am pretty sure one is in my future. Not likely I'll ditch the Shields, though....
Hasn't there been a recall on the P365? Seems like I saw something on that. I'm happy with my Shield 45 anyway. I use the 6 round mag, and carry two spare 6 round mags, so I feel like 18 rounds of .45 ACP are enough for me!
I've been interested in the Sig P365 myself, but have decided it might be a good idea to wait. Several problems have been reported on the Sig forums.
Front sight falling off
Barrel peening
Not returning to battery
They are now coming with XRAY3 Day/Night Sights
I bet a year from now it is a fantastic little shooter. In about three weeks I will have a chance to shoot one with some factory reps. Really looking forward to it.
Can't go wrong with a Shield. I Love it and I shoot it well.

I’ve read similar ( though front sight falling off is new to me). Suspect the RTB issues are failure to clean properly
What bothers me most is the peening issue. We’ll see how SIG resolves this.
If they do, and do so rapidly, it may be a serious challenger to both the shield and G43
Not to try to dissuade you from buying but...a mag extension will get your Shield closer to the 10 rnds and will be much less expensive. And no need to buy a bunch of new mags and a new holster.
For me personally I will keep my shield. I'm accurate with it and I know it will always go bang. I'll admit the P365 would be interesting when they fix all the problems, but as they say, if it ain't broke don't try to fix it.

See Magguts.com for extending the capacity of your std. mags..
I also wanted one (at first)...Then all the problems started with it..then Sig recalled it...said they had to made a few changes to the tolerance issues...
Got me thinking, are the tolerances in this new small gun toooooooo tight. Metal expands and contracts in temp changes.
This gun had problems in cold weather conditions when first released...
Doubt this gun was tested in extreme cold and heat conditions before release...If you want one, wait a year to see that all functionally has been addressed...
I decided to go with a Shield 2.0 9mm with the +2 magguts for all mags as I trust the Shield and it has been flawless for me from day 1.
Bought the Magguts spring that gives you an extra round in your Shield. The first time out it wasn't all that great with a couple of jams. Went through another box yesterday without a problem. I'll save my money and stick with the Shield. It's run flawlessly with stock mags and now this one with the Magguts seems to be breaking in.
To many problems reported with the P365 to trust it just yet.
The p365 has issues as do most sig polymer pistols as of lately. I try to encourage anyone looking at shields to get the 9c or 45c . We know they are reliable, the magazines are compatible, and the Capacity.

I agree, coach. I'm all gunned up with my Shields with holsters, mags, stainless slide return spring and APEX trigger jobs. In fact I have two Shields. Love the Hogue Handall Beavertail rubber grips too. The P365 would have been on my list but the Shield is too good to give up.

Everybody is curious about new things and everybody seems to want something that is even a little better than what they have.
I have bought and sold four carry pistols since I bought my first Shield. While the other pistols had individual features that were better than the Shield, the Shield always ended up having the best overall package of characteristics. I finally resolved to quit chasing unicorns and fully committed to the Shield by buying a second one last year.
I won't be selling my Shield but i will own a P365 and will carry that if i can ever get my hands on one. The shield is bigger and heavier. I carry it, but looking for smaller and lighter.
I have one of the first P365.....my edcs the last 5 years have been the Shield and the G43......No more.....The P365 just outperforms them in every way.
Accuracy is superior, ergonomics are superior although subjective, capacity far superior, Shootability, especially rapid fire, is superior. Concealability is superior, reliabilty zero malfunctions 1005 rounds......It's just a fantastic carry gun....truly a gamechanger. 11 or 13 rounds of 9mm in a G42 size gun......crazy.
JMHO

why not have both, buy another gun and piss off a liberal.
Are the 2 extra rounds really going to justify spending $500+ for the P365 plus all the extras for EDC? I carry my Shield 8 + 1, along with 2 extra mags. If I need to use more than 1 mag, then I am in real trouble.
FYI...I am a die hard SIG fanboy (own every DA/SA P series and 4 P320s) and my Shields are #1 in my carry rotation.

Well, the P365 is significantly lighter, and somewhat smaller, than the Shield. The weight factor alone is why I'm considering the P365.
I wonder how long it will take for some bozo on the www to make a video of the P365 going BANG whilst being slammed on the floor?
I could be wrong (never have been but there's always a first time)... but I heard Sig made sure not to repeat the drop fire failure with this handgun....Seems they dropped it every which way but loose and hammer pounded it at every angle for days on end trying to make it fail......(Probably why they missed all the other problems)
Anyway if it's not drop safe we will surely know in short order as I am sure there are people trying very hard to make it do so.....but since no one on planet earth except Sig can even get hands on a 365 I would not worry about it for a good while...It it's still working without flaws a year from now I may take another look at it.....Until then a Shield 9 with magguts +2 in all mags works just fine for me.....Me and Shield got a good thing going.....we trust each other....
Really? I barely feel my Shield on me. Is 3oz going to make that big a difference?
I guess everyone has their own preference. I am good with the Shield.
i will check out the p365 for size soon. i have a shield 9mm...love it for shooting but i pocket carry because i'm retired and always wear cargo pants. I have an LC9s and there is a significant difference to the shield in pocket carry as the ruger is much easier...However the pocket carry winner is far and away my KelTec PF9...Fully loaded with 8 rounds it weighs less than the ruger does empty. There is a huge difference to me between 12 ounces and 20 ounces in my front pocket...even 3 ounces is noticeable to me..YMMV
I am in a similar situation. I like my Kahr CM-9 with Crimson Trace laser, but the Sig P365 is about the same size with greater capacity. I have the Sig on pre-order. I have shot my buddy's Shield and didn't like the feel of the grip. It also is larger than I like.

The P365 is small, but there's no free lunch..Those 3-4 extra rounds do add weight.....It's so compact however, it just feels solid and is easy to carry and highly concealable.
If smaller and lighter was my priority, I'd carry an LGS. Both my Shield 9MM and Shield 45 are small enough to carry easily and big enough to shoot well. Both of them are as reliable as any I've shot and used. They don't cost an arm and a leg, although I'd spend that for a pistol I like as much as I like my Shields. There are lots of good and quality pistols. All of them have good features, for the most part. Everything is a compromise to some extent, but I have found fewer compromises that are required for me to like and trust and carry my Shields. I'm not anyone but me, but for me, I wouldn't trade either of my Shields for two of the P365s or any other semi auto suitable for EDC. For me, it's just right. I'm always interested in new or other guns, but basically, I've quit looking for an EDC firearm. Yes, I still carry and love my revolvers on occasion. Always will. But I ain't lookin' for any other semi auto these days. You gotta figure out for yourself what works best for you!
it does look like the new shield is lighter than my old shield by maybe a few ounces...any idea how smith made it lighter?
No clue but the M1.0 Shield is only 1.2 oz heavier than the P365. A person would have to have a VERY weight sensitive hip to feel a 1.2 oz weight difference.

By not including the weight of the magazine on 2.0 guns.
When I was researching the 2.0 compact before I bought one I saw some reviews that measured the weight instead of pulling the number off the website. The 2.0 guns always weighed a few ounces more than the website said, the older guns did not. With no magazine my 2.0 compact weighs 24 ounces which matches the website number.
I don't have any Shields but if someone here has both a 1.0 and 2.0 and a scale maybe they could check. I bet the guns weigh the same if they both have a magazine in them.
About two months after this post, the gf and I got one on order. I was minutes too late for getting one for myself. She has been carrying a Shield but the size is a challenge for her and racking the slide is as well for her so her getting one to test out may work for her.
At the same time, I'll get to shoot it and see how I like it.
As for weight. 18oz in P365 or a G43 vs 20-21oz Shield is a big difference. A 19 is 23 oz. Maybe the extra rounds will make up the ozs.
In any case, I love the Shield, I'm happy with it. I don't know what good standards are for it but I am around 3 second Bill Drill at 7 yards with it, all centered on 8.5x11 paper. 3 second reloads, and draw from concealment +/- 2 seconds depending on target size/distance.
Only way I see another CCW hurting is less focused practice on a single platform.
