Looked at a 40 today
Forgive my ignorance here. I’m really a revolver guy. I looked at a new m&p 40 today. They had a bunch of them. Marked at 379. I only have a couple auto pistols. P38 and a g19. But this thing feels really good to me. Is that a good price for one of these? I’m thinking of going back tomorrow and put one on layaway. I would like to hear your pros/cons. Any recent problem with these?

M&P 2.0 Compact 40 MSRP is $569. I would say that’s a good deal. Don’t know of any issues with the 40 I have a 9 and it’s been perfect.

I have a version 1.0 M&P 40 compact. It has been an accurate and reliable pistol for me. So much so that it has been my every day carry for the last three years. It developed some problems as it approached 10,000 rounds, but Smith & Wesson took it back and rebuilt it free of charge. I've put over 1,500 rounds through it since then, and it runs as good as new. If you're looking at a version 1.0, go ahead and get it. It's a fine gun. If you're looking at a version 2.0, and assuming that it's built to the same standard as my 1.0 was, I recommend it highly as well. Either way, $379 is a pretty good price.

I have a M&P .40 Full Size and have shot my son’s .40 Shield and .40c multiple times wiyhout any issues. For me, the .40 S&W are great, great pistols. I will be adding a .40 Shield and a .40c to my own arsenal soon.

What exact gun are you looking at? 1.0 or 2.0? Shield, Compact or one of the 2 full size guns?

Is that a new price or one of the Police trade-ins? I'm seriously regretting not buying one of the police trade ins a couple months ago when they were $199 plus shipping and transfer. I did buy one of the 45 trade ins and love it.
