I've not heard a bad word about the 2.0 versions from anyone, and I know a bunch of folks who use them hard. I'm not inclined to one for logistical reasons, but they seem to be a good product.

I did the same thing. I carried various Glocks for years, both on duty at my PD job and off duty. Got sick and tired of Glock's condescending, ****** customer service and the overall "bleh" feel of the gun a few years ago and started looking for a replacement for my G19.

After LOTS of research, I finally decided on an M&P 2.0 in 9mm and bought one about a month or so ago. Lots of factors came into play in the decision for the M&P instead of a Walther PPQ or H&K VP9 or something like that, mainly price of replacement mags (gimmie a break, I support my family on a cop's pay!) and availability of holsters and accessories.

Overall, I am HIGHLY satisfied with my choice. I absolutely LOVE my M&P. Accurate, reliable (so far, not quite 300 rds through it), great trigger, fits my hand like it was made for it and, despite what I initially thought, I love the grip texture. I shoot the M&P better and more accurately than my G19, too, even though I have shot Glocks for 25 years or so and the M&P for a measly 300 rds. Overall, I can't wait to qualify with the M&P and start carrying it.

There are a few minuses. I may still lightly sand the grip texture a little because I can see it wearing expensive duty shirts and pants quickly. It is heavier than a comparable Glock, but not by much. While accessories are more available than they are for the PPQ or VP9, they still aren't as available as Glocks. Mags, while considerably less than the others, are still a little more expensive than Glocks. When you look at the overall package, though, I think it is still worlds better than the Glocks. Glocks aren't bad guns, but they are just kinda "bleh" and, for me, their CS is horrible. The M&P is great and, although I have never had to use it, their CS is reputed to be outstanding. I'm happy with my choice and would make it again in a minute.

I bought one on a whim, and I'm glad I did. Great shooter, handy size. Ordered a couple of the 17 round mags for it. Ha, now it's a Glock 19X. Only better.

Maybe just lightly sand the side that would rub against your clothing. Then you still have the aggressive grip contacting the largest part of your hand, but no snagging on your shirts. Best of both worlds.

I live 15 miles from Glock's plant so I have a few. I was impressed by the Shield 45 and for the price bought two. Easier to carry and I shoot them really well. They have replaced my Glock 19 for general carry. Unless I go downtown Atlanta then it's Glock 23 with two extra mags.

I considered that. The problem is, when just standing around, I have a habit of resting my forearm on top of the holstered gun. It's not a problem during the summer in short sleeve shirts but, in the winter with long sleeve shorts, the rear of the butt rubs on the sleeves. I'd have to do the left side and rear of the butt, might as well do the rest, too, to even out the look. Call me strange, but the way a gun looks matters to me, too. Not a big deal and I still don't know if I'll do it or not, just something I'm strongly considering.

Lightly sanding the grip doesn’t change the look. No one will know you did it as long as you don’t go crazy doing it. No scratches or discoloring at all.

If I could get a 2.0, I would sand the entire grip. I think S&W went too aggressive with it. This is just my opinion, but it would solve your issue.

The more I read about the M&P 2.0 the more tempted I get. Anyone know if these are included in the Blue Line (LEO discount) Program?

The 2.0 is beyond nice. I too have my Glocks but definitely wanted a 2.0.

You just have to check for the LEO pricing on the individual websites.
Bud's Gun Shop has a Qualified Professionals discount, and Quantico Tactical has a LE/Military/1st Responder program and SSD International has a Individual Officer Program, those are a few I could remember off the top of my head.

I believe they are with the only difference being you get 3 magazines and there is also an option for night sights.

I looked on a major auction sight and there were some listed through the LE Program at pretty good "buy now" prices but then I stumbled across the one that I purchased for $365.00 so went that route.

"Why"? I am not a Glock guy and did buy a 2.0 9mm last yr. and its OK, but bought my 1st Glock in 21 yr. and it is a 19X and i "Love" it.

So the S&W 2.0 and my Shield spent a lot of time in the Safe!

I sanded down the stippling a little on my Shield 45 and you really can't even tell it was done. Feels better now.

I know there is a lot of talk about the grip texture. For me however this was a major selling point. I don't carry this one but it feels great for range and house duty.

I’ve had my M&P 2.0 Compact since February and I believe the grip texture has eased up a great deal. It’s warm here this weekend and I carried it today with just a t-shirt and it didn’t irritate my skin at all.
Love this gun.

I picked-up a Shield .45 yesterday...to replace a Glock 36 as my EDC...can't wait to get it to the range!

Interestingly...I taught at Walton back in the mid-'90's...lived just off of the 120 Loop on the east side of Marietta.

I just bought an M&P 9 compact. I’m anxious to try it out. It’s supposed to be shipped out to myFFL today. I’ve got 2 Glocks and 2 M&P s right now, not including the new compact.

Well I stretched her legs this past weekend at a local 2-gun match.
The recoil on this pistol has a softer feel to me than my Glocks. Love the grip texture.
Very happy with it so far.
Came in 11th out of 38(I think) in my class and 17th out of 52 overall.
Defensive Pistol match this Saturday can't wait.

Nice to know you’re happy with the 2.0. I’d like to try one myself.

Sounds like good, solid shooting with your new gun. Congrats!

Check out Sportsmans Outdoor Superstore. They have good prices and I believe they also offer a discount to active LEO's. I have found them to be a great place to do business with. Quick service with delivery to your FFL for transfer once they get your FFL's license info. They have a great many FFL's already approved.

Well I shot the Defensive Pistol match at my local range today.
I don't know the scores yet and I'm sure I don't want to.
Pistol did what it's suppose to do..very nicely I might add.
This stage I blew up...Not the good way either.
Shot 2 ''no shoots''. The one on the far right took 4rds..in a nice small group too.

I’m trying to give my compact a fair shake. I’ve run 600 rounds through it so far with no stoppages. I didn’t like how I shot low with the factory sights (which BTW came with the rear sight all the way to the left, no biggie knocked it back to Center) so i ordered a set of Trijicon HD XR’s which shoot POA on other guns I have. It still shoots low. If I aim with the front dot instead of the top edge of the front sight (like all the SFP’s I have owned)I can hit where I aim. Aiming with the front dot is faster supposedly, but not as precise. I don’t prefer it. I will shoot it a couple more times and make a decision. I like the grip of the gun and the recoil impulse isn’t that much more than a Glock. I like the trigger too (for stock), but if I can’t shoot it as good as a G19 why would I replace it.
I may try some Warren or Dawson plain Black rear/FO front sights. Both offer different height front sights. Maybe I can find a setup that shoots the way I’m used to.

I've used Quantico Tactical for several LE purchases. The CS is as easy and good as it gets.
Once you send a copy of your department I.D. it'll be in their data base for all future purchases. Their shipping just increased from $10 to $15.
They are LE sellers for other brands too.
I'm presently on their pre-order list for the P365. All I've ever purchased is Sigs and Smith & Wesson.
