Default Shield 45 troubles.

Bought a Shield 45 last year and carried it for awhile and then it dropped out of my EDC. Looking at bringing it back in now but I use to have a problem that I never addressed. Occasionally, the slide won’t hold back on the last round, also if I pull the slide back on an empty mag, the slide hold open doesn’t engage unless I pull back with quit a bit of force. It is also really difficult to drop the slide using the slide release. Is this a common problem?

Here are two videos of my Shield 45.
Love the pistol but need the slide hold open to work correctly.

your supposed to rack the slide. It's a slide lock, not a slide release.

Correct-o-mondo....the heavy duty guide rod and spring by S&W was intentional to reduce recoil...Slide lock never was intended to be a slide release.

Check the slide lock lever spring. It may have popped out of place or even broken.
