Default M&P-9 Trigger Issue

Hi, I just acquired a new M&P -9mm. The trigger is pretty tough. I'm in Mass. which requires 10 lb. triggers. This one has a modified spring which yields a 7 lb. pull. I run 5 lbs on all my pistols, so the question: Is there a trigger kit out there that you would recommend to get this pistol under 5 lb. pull?
Thanks, larry.k

Why don't you just change it to the standard non-Massachusetts trigger pull that S&W offers on its pistols going to the free states?

Short answer—yes.

Do you have a Gen 1 or the newer 2.0 version? The triggers are different.

Triggers on the 1.0 versions were often very rough throughout the trigger pull. A good polish job smooths them up and can actually lighten them almost a pound.

Changing your trigger return spring would get you from 7 to about 5#.

The best trigger for either version comes from Apex Tactical Specialities. They are legendary at producing pull weights and trigger strokes that will meet your requirements. Call their customer service and they will guide you through options. It is expensive compared to other solutions, but you will not regret it as the results give you a far better trigger than almost any other striker fired gun, and at least equal to most anything else you already have.

I have put in seven Apex triggers in M&Ps, and I’m not a gunsmith. They are all great.
