recommend ammo for M&P 22 Compact
I'd like to take my used Compact 22 out and shoot it. We had issues the first time around, but I was more focused on the shooters and safety, than the pistol. I tagged it and bagged it for later use. To rule out ammo, is there any flavor the 22 Compact prefers?

In general, CCI MiniMag ammo is considered some of the most reliable available. https://www.academy.com/shop/pdp/cci...fle-ammunition

Of course it likes Mini-mags! My 41 is on a steady diet of SV, so of course this Compact requires HV. Thanks for the info.
FYI, Academy had a one day promo code, but they must have extended it. I received free shipping, then 20% off of my order with the code: CC201820PCT
$6.39 was a decent deal for Mini-mags. I know another member here said it was a 28% discount, but perhaps he was including the free shipping, or I missed something.
thanks again. I'll give these a try.

I fired my brand new Compact for the first time yesterday. We put 300 of Federal American Eagle 40 gr HV with 3 FTE in the first 100. No problem after that. Haven’t tried anything else yet. I’m really tickled with this little pistol.

I knew of one M&P rifle..
...that would only take Browning ammo. The guy said he'd tried everything but that was all that worked. I almost owned it on a trade, but the first thing I'd do is check out the insides. Nothing should be THAT picky.

So shoot 'em and dazzle your friends with bullseyes and pyrotechnics!

I have a Ruger SR22 with a 4.5 inch barrel and it will eat most any high velocity ammo. I personally prefer CCI variants (AR Tactical, MiniMag, Velocitor, and Stinger), but I have also had great performance from Agula high velocity ammo.

I took full advantage of the 20% promo code and the additional 10% savings they offered on Sunday (that's where the overall 28% savings came from [80% of 90% is 72% of original price], not counting the free shipping). I bought $400 worth of .380 and 9mm ammo along with a couple of Sig magazines.

Nice! I saw the post on Sunday and went to Academy. We had a lot going on here and I just couldn't find anything at Academy that I was really looking for. I'm sure if I had more time, I could have. In fact, the thought of 22 ammo came up, so I looked at some, but nothing grabbed me and I already have a decent supply of mini-mags. I just went there today and for $6.32, I figured the kids might be shooting em up, so why not. I have plenty selection here, with Federal, etc., so i'll try them all. I don't shoot Remington rimfire anymore.
I was looking for 9mm HST, but they only had it in 150 grain, or something like that. I'll prepared the next time they offer that sale.

If you want 9mm HST, check TargetSportsUSA or Outdoorlimited.com. Much better prices and no tax, but you have to pay shipping. So you need to buy enough other ammo to make it worthwhile.

It helps to polish the feed ramp and chamber, mine eats about anything, including 20 year old bulk from K-Mart!
I did notice a bit more oomph from some old boxes of Wildcats, they sounded the best out of all.
Here's a few pics of mine, Willams Firesights for my old eyes, a Houge grip and a Caroilna Crusher compensator.
I also treat all my weapons with Militec, makes them feel and run like butter, and makes cleaning them SO easy!

My 22 Compact will shoot any hv ammo reliably except browning and federal automatch. Any other brand delivers 100% reliability, however the automatch will fail to feed about 5 or 6 times per 200 rounds. The browning is just garbage ( based on my experience in my 22 ).

Agree that CCI Mini-Mags are the goto for .22 semiautos.
CCI Stingers are for the more rugged firearm. They can beat up smaller guns.
If you can't find CCI Mini-Mags, Remington Golden Bullets work for me.
Save Federal for revolvers.
Thunderbolts are for guns you don't like, unless you are sadistic about cleaning lead residue.

My compact has had no issues with Fed automatch or champ; and same with mini mags (36 or 40 gn). Seems to eat anything.
But my Buckmark is more finicky, running great on mini mags but that is not always the case with other ammo. So at this point i only buy the mini mags, and thats all i run thru either of them now.

Aquila. I find Aquila to be on par with CCI. Good stuff.
