Default Rust in barrel ?

Question 1. My .40 is taken out of my safe and shot once a year. I took it out for the annual cleaning and the barrel has orange streaks. I can’t remember if it was like this before. I ran a bore brush through it to no avail. Does the pic look like rust ?

Question 2. Where can i get a factory replacement barrel

thats copper fouling, but very little and this streaks may always be there to some extend, use hoppe's bench rest, let is work in for 15 minutes, runs patch, it will come out green. run regular hopes a few times, few dry patches, then a nice and wet Ballistol patch at the end and Voila!

I wouldn’t let that bother me.

Copper fouling. Definitely don't need a new barrel.

Look up KG-12, works good to remove copper fouling

KG-1 for removal of powder and lead fouling.
KG-2 for removal of copper and lead fouling, also works well for polishing bore (1200-1400 grit).
KG-12 for aggressive removal of copper fouling.
KG-3 solvent and degreaser for removing fouling loosened by KG-1, KG-2 and KG-12.
KG-4 gun oil for protecting metal that has been cleaned and degreased with KG-3. Meets military specification Mil-L-63460 D.

Check out this link, very good info
KG-12 Copper Remover - KG12 Removes heavy copper fouling quickly from rifles without ammonia, restores accuracy to 204 Ruger, 223 Remington, 22-250, 220 Swift, and all other high velocity rifles

There are other products out there that work, but this is what I use.

There are plenty of replacement barrel makers. I like Storm lake, I have a couple of conversion barrels. They are most likely made out of the same 416R stainless that the factory barrel. Mean time to failure on the factory barrel would be around 40-50k rounds. Depending on bullet type. The "upgrade" barrels uses more precise dimensions. I think that limits you more to certain ammo types.

Looks like copper fouling to me. Run a patch soaked in copper solvent through the barrel. Let it sit for about 5 minutes, then run a dry patch through the barrel. If the dry patch comes out with green streaks on it, that's copper. I don't get too worked up over copper fouling, unless I also plan to shoot lead bullets through the firearm.
