Default Shield 45 Fail to feed

My Shield 45 has been failing to feed the second shot from my secondary magazine with the mag extension (7 round). The 6 round mag only did it once(after 100s of rounds).

The problem is the round is nosed down into the mag and a quick pinch back of the slide makes it go every time. just ran 50 rounds(cheap reloads one round had a light strike on a not fully seated primer but I don't blame the gun) through it and 1st mag did the jam on second shot then did 2 more mags no issue. Switched hands with maybe looser grip and it did it 2 shots in a row. I think possible causes limp wrist, mag, recoil spring, cheap ammo? Anyone else had this issue?

You need to shorten your oal. Try factory ammo and I bet it goes away. Ammo is just a hair too long and when it gets stacked in the mag the nose drags on the front inside of the mag and causes the hang up. I’ve had it with a couple of 9mm’s in some of my reloads.

I think it did it with seller and bellot factory ammo but, I'll grab some Factory Federal or a comprable brand and try it again it's just strange that it only does it on the second round out of the 7-round magazine.

Always back slap your mag after loading them.....ensures all rounds are seated in the proper orientation and there should be no rounds nose diving in the mag.....and yes...that is some funkey looking ammo.......

I'll try that slap thing next time I bring it out I'm assuming you mean like when people tap a cigarette pack on the table. And yeah the ammo is interesting to say the least I helped a guy change his gas tank and he paid me with cash and reloads.

My first Shield 45 was finicky with some of my lead bullet reloads, but shot factory ammo just fine. I sold it, because I shoot a lot of reloads. The new one, a Performance Center Shield 45, shoots anything I've put in it so far. Cartridge OAL is critical in these short 45s.
