New to M&P 40
I am an old S&W revolver man, mainly Mdl 19's, 29, and 686.
I just purchased a used S&W M&P 40. Right now the only issue I have is loading the magazine. I have had 1911's and Glocks and this has never been an issue. What I do to get it loaded is push down on the follower with a screwdriver and load each road best I can. I know I am not a young man anymore but I am having difficulty with this and am wondering if it might be the magazine. Will a ten round magazine be easier?
I just saw a YouTube video that someone else posted about this problem that I will try.

I second the uplula recommendation. It makes the job MUCH easier.

Thanks guys. A friend at work has recommended the same thing and I plan on getting it. The video helped a lot too!

You said the pistol was used, but that may or may not mean it has been fired very much. S&W magazines can be tight for a while...when I buy a new gun, I always load the magazines to capacity and let them sit for a while. I also use an UpLula...best thing since sliced bread, IMO.

Another vote for Uplula. It works great on all of my semi-autos. I have an M&P 40 compact (1.0) with 12,000 rounds through it. It is still difficult to load the last round into the original 10-round magazines, even with my Uplula. (Hint: while using the Uplula, be sure that round #9 is fully seated to the back of the magazine, otherwise round #10 will be impossible to load.) The 40c 10-round magazines have some very stout springs in them. While that can make loading a challenge, on the positive side they'll likely be good for 100,000 rounds.
