Default M&P 22 Compact Return to Battery Fail

I took my 22s to the range today. After 50 rounds my M&P 22 Compact began experiencing failure to fire, just the dreaded click.

At home, I tore it down, and all looked good. I inserteed a mag and defeated the trigger safety to see the firing pin, it looked normal.

After reassembly I noticed it wasn't going all the way into battery unless I really racked it with authority. Also, the slide felt pretty sluggish. Right now, I think a good cleaning and lube is what it needs. Will update later.

Well, I just got done. There was a lot of carbon sludge for around 200 rounds. Also, the mating parts all seem to be plastic of some type. However; there didn't seem to be much wear, just the gunk buildup.

This time I lubed it a bit on the wet side, and worked it back and forth. Now it slips into battery even when I follow the slide.

I'll clean it often, and keep it lubed.

Maybe try some different ammo. All 22 is dirty, but some is worse than others.

I was shooting Remington Golden Bullets, which are pretty clean in my other guns.

My thought is to run 200 CCI Mini-Mags through it.

I have found the Golden Bullets and Mini-Mags are the most reliable for .22LR pistols. If the CCIs are cleaner, fine. If they are dirty too, I'll just clean it more often.

The carbon isn't hard to clean. Nothing like lead buildup.

Polishing the feed ramp and chamber does wonders!

Treat with Militec, gunk won't stick, and cleans a lot easier!

My full size MP22 is doing the same thing. Also after the last round slide is not staying open.

I took it to the range yesterday, it ran just fine.

I think it just likes to be lubed a little on the wet side.

Yeah I’ve found with that particular gun, running it a little wet seems to keep things reliable.

I put 300 rounds through mine yesterday in a short period of time on a steel target range, and toward the last 50 rounds I was getting some F2F malfunctions. Nothing a little lube didn’t fix however.

I am not a huge "cleaning my gun" person. that being said, I am positively manic about "lubed". Firmly believe that gungered up and nasty can work fine if it's lubed.

and, cci mini mags are what my much- better-half swears by in her walther.
