Tru Glo TFX Pro or optical red dot? Must admit I don't completely understand the red dot and how it is installed

I like my TFX Pro's on my 2.0 fs. I saw Trijicon makes a red dot mount that slides into the dovetail for iron sights.

I would not recommend the TFX Pro. Here are some pics of why.
As you can see in good light or sunlight they are bright.

They perform poorly in low light situations.

Complete darkness they are good.

Unless you are in very good light or total darkness they are very disappointing.

Smoke 33 is exactly right,
bought the same ones, not much different from the factory sights, wish I had spent the money on something else

I have the same problem with TruGlo. And am in the process of exchanging them for Trijicon Night Sights with the yellow front.

I agree with both of you and put it up at the top of my list of something I bought that was a complete waste of money!

Trijicon HD. I'm sure others are good but I've always used Trijicon.

Glad I was able to. Let me know what you go with and how they work out. I need to find some new sights.

I too am a fan of the XS big dots on my carry guns. I just put a set of their new F8 sights on my other 2.0 and so far I really like them.

I just put Trijicon HD XR sights on my 2.0 compact. Being used to aiming with the top edge of the front sight on Glocks and other guns, it shoots around 2” low @ 7 yards. If I use the front dot as the POA it shoots better vertically, but that’s a less precise sight picture. I’ll try it for a few outings, but will probably switch to Warren Carry sight (plain Black rear/ FO front).

IMO Wilson Combat offers some pretty nice sights for the M&Ps.

Not a big fan of 3-dot sights, I prefer a gold dot front / black serrated rear. These are some high quality sights with lots of options. Been procrastinating on a set of Tritium .165 front / single dot Tritium rear on my 40c. Kind of a straight eight sight picture. Maybe with the Trijicon HD XR up front...

I'm in the process of installing the HD XRs on my compact, and boy the front stock sight is tight. It won't budge.

I'm pretty happy with the Ameriglo iDot. My middle aged eyes can't handle two big dots on the rear sight any more, and the orange outline on the front tritium really stands out well.

Stick with three dot sights with white around the tritium. That's the only way to go. Factory night sights or Trijicon Bright & Tough.

The variety of responses prior to yours would indicate that 3-dot sights are definitely NOT the only way to go.

Blacked out is just bad practice. It should be the only way to go.
