When you shoot your 2.0 Shield how much finger do you use on the trigger? Have you found a "sweet spot" where you always hit center instead of left?

I found the spot where my finger needs to be is a little over half way on the pad. This position will also let the very tip of my trigger finger touch the base of my support hand index finger/palm which makes it very easy to know when my grip is off.

Smile how much finger do you use

I would start with the middle of the pad before the first joint. Keep in mind you must squeeze the trigger straight back. Without observing your shooting, I would say you are using the finger to push the trigger to the left instead of straight back. Keep in mind, the finger is moving constantly rearward without any hesitation until the gun fires. There is to be no jerking or anticipation of the shot, just a constant rearward pressure until it goes off. Constant dry fire will help you discern most of the problems encountering trigger press. Practice, Practice, Practice.

IMHO--THE TRICK WITH ANY FIREARM, IS TO FIND THE SPOT ON YOUR OWN FINGER, THAT ALLOWS YOU TO FULLY DEPRESS THAT PARTICULAR TRIGGER, WITHOUT MOVING THE MUZZLE, TO THE LEFT OR TO THE RIGHT......

THAT SPOT WILL VARY, INDIVIDUAL TO INDIVIDUAL, AND WEAPON TO WEAPON, IN MY EXPERIENCE.........

YES, THERE ARE BASIC GUIDELINES, AND TUTORIALS AVAILABLE ON YOU TUBE. THERE ARE CHARTS THAT INDICATE WHICH ERROR YOU ARE MAKING, BY THE LOCATION OF YOUR SHOT GROUPS. YOU STILL HAVE TO WORK IT OUT, TRIAL AND ERROR, FOR YOURSELF. ITS EASILY ACCOMPLISHED, BY DRY FIRE OF AN EMPTY REVOLVER, SIGHTED AT A SMALL TARGET, ON A WALL. (REMEMBER NOT TO DRY FIRE A RIMFIRE, WITHOUT SNAP CAPS) JUST LOOK AT WHERE YOUR MUZZLE IS POINTED, WHEN YOUR HAMMER FALLS. THIS DRILL IS GREATLY FACILITATED, IF YOUR WEAPON IS EQUIPPED WITH A SET OF LASER GRIPS......

KEEP AT IT, AND YOUR GUN CONTROL WILL IMPROVE----AND BTW, SHOTS CONSISTENTLY TO THE LEFT OF THE BULL, IF YOU ARE A RIGHT HANDED SHOOTER, IS AN INDICATION THAT YOU HAVE TOO LITTLE FINGER, ON THE TRIGGER.....

All answers so far are correct. even most of post #7 whose first paragraph is a slightly more correct answer than than previous ones, which were also correct.

However, if you are doing everything right and your shots are consistently left of the bull, your next question should be about sight adjustment, not fingers and charts. A safe general rule is that if the groups are small, adjust your sights. If your groups are large, learn what you are doing wrong.

OK, first things first: most of the "what you're doing wrong" charts are based on one handed bullseye shooting. They have very limited application for shooting with two hands.

Having guided a bunch of folks through transition training to the M&P series, most of the hitting left problems are due to folks losing patience with the trigger stroke and finishing up with a hearty yank. If your groups are low left, this is almost a dead certainty. You don't mention the range. What distance? If we're talking 5-7 yards, it's probably a yank.

It's a dirty little secret that there is no magic part of the trigger digit that works for everyone. The reach to the trigger is different for almost everyone and you need to find that part of the digit that will move the trigger straight back.

I'd suggest having someone else try your pistol or going left handed (I'm assuming you're a righty) and see if the groups stay left.

FWIW, I had to move the front sight on my issue M&P.

OK, I WILL FOLLOW YOUR LEAD. LET'S GO WAAAY BACK TO, "first things first"---THERE IS NO INDICATION IN THE ORIGINAL POST, BY oldiesradio1560, THAT HE IS SHOOTING TWO HANDED--OR ONE HANDED, FOR THAT MATTER. THAT APPEARS TO BE AN ASSUMPTION THAT YOU HAVE MADE, BY YOURSELF, BASED ON ABSOLUTELY NO EVIDENCE......

WITH ALL DUE RESPECT, I HAVE BEEN A HANGUN SHOOTER FOR 60 YEARS, AND AN NRA CERTIFIED INSTRUCTOR FOR 40 OF THOSE YEARS. IN THE COURSE OF THOSE 40 YEARS, I HAVE TAUGHT COUNTLESS STUDENTS, BOTH MALE AND FEMALE, TO SHOOT REVOLVERS AND SEMIAUTOS, BOTH ONE HANDED, AND TWO HANDED. IMHO, YOU GREATLY DENIGRATE THE VALUE OF THE ERROR CHARTS, WHEN YOU STATE THAT, "They have very limited application for two handed shooting." ARE YOU SAYING THAT THE PRINCIPLES OF MARKSMANSHIP, WITH A HANDGUN, CAN BE TOSSED ASIDE, WITH THE ADDITION OF ANOTHER HAND FOR SUPPORT, AND A CHANGE IN STANCE ? ? ? I THINK NOT ! ! !

One eye Joe, I'm getting used to my first automatic the .380 Shield EZ I brought two months ago. I've been a Smith revolver guy in .357 magnum since the 70's. I love the way my EZ shoots and I've put about 250 rounds thru it and it's my daily carry. I can shoot quarter to 50cent size groups but I am shooting those groups an inch to the left of the X ring. My rounds are landing from about 10 'o clock to 7' of clock. I shoot two handed, police style as I've been doing since the 70's. I would post a picture if I could. Tried. Thanks for help.

BASED ON WHAT YOU ARE STATING, oldiesradio1560, I THINK THAT YOUR PROBLEM CAN BE EASILY REMEDIED. YOU HAVE OBVIOUSLY MASTERED THE PRINCIPLES OF GOOD MARKSMANSHIP, AS EVIDENCED BY YOUR CONSISTENTLY SMALL GROUPS. KUDOS TO YOU ! ! !

NOW, YOU MUST PARDON MY IGNORANCE, AND UNFAMILIARITY, WITH YOUR PARTICULAR MODEL. DOES YOUR WEAPON HAVE AN ADJUSTABLE REAR SIGHT ? ? ? (I AM THINKING THAT YOUR SIGHT IS FIXED--OR ELSE AN EXPERIENCED SHOOTER LIKE YOURSELF, WOULD HAVE REMEDIED THE SITUATION, WITH A COUPLE OF CLICKS OF WINDAGE.)

ANTICIPATING YOUR REPLY THAT THE SIGHTS ARE FIXED, I WOULD DEF TRY INCREASING THE DISTANCE, OF YOUR FINGER INTO THE TRIGGER GUARD, AND ONTO THE TRIGGER INCREMENTALLY, UNTIL YOU FIND THE SPOT WHERE THE TRIGGER IS BEING PULLED BACK STRAIGHT. THIS WILL BECOME OBVIOUS, AS YOUR GROUPS SHOULD MOVE TO THE RIGHT, WHILE MAINTAINING THEIR SMALL SIZE. TAKE YOUR TIME, AND EXERCISE PATIENCE. YOU MAY EVEN FIND THAT THE USE OF A FINE LINE, WASHABLE SHARPIE, TO MARK YOUR FINGER'S POSITION, WILL BE A USEFUL AID, TO CONTROL YOUR INQUIRY, IN A SCIENTIFIC MANNER......

SMALL, FIXED SIGHT .380s, AS A GROUP, REGARDLESS OF BRAND, ARE NOT THE EASIEST WEAPONS TO MASTER. YOU HAVE 95% OF THE WORK DONE. IF YOU HAD HOLES ALL OVER THE TARGET, I WOULD BE CONCERNED. ON THE CONTRARY, I AM VERY OPTIMISTIC THAT YOU WILL SUCCESSFULLY OVERCOME THIS PROBLEM......

BEST WISHES, AND STAY SAFE, MY FRIEND......

WHAT ARE YOU IMPLYING BY YOUR STATEMENT, jakebrake ? ? ?

DO YOU MEAN THAT THERE IS A PROBLEM WITH THE FACTORY INSTALLATION--OR--DO YOU MEAN THAT THE OP SIMPLY NEEDS TO ADJUST HIS WINDAGE ? ? ?

I GIVE A GUY WHO HAS BEEN SHOOTING SINCE THE '70s, AND IS SHOOTING VERY RESPECTABLE GROUPS, ENOUGH CREDIT TO BE ABLE TO FIGURE OUT, IF HE MERELY NEEDS A COUPLE OF CLICKS OF WINDAGE--ALL BY HIMSELF. THAT'S NOT ROCKET SCIENCE........

Default NOT ALL FINGERS ARE CREATED EQUAL.

FOR ME: not enough, and I pull shots right. TOO MUCH: and they go left. TEHO, gonna have to try and see for yourself, but I'd go along with the majority of "somewhere" between the middle of the pad, to the crease.

I WOULD HAVE TO AGREE WITH YOU, jakebrake, AND I WOULD NOT BE SURPRISED AT ALL ! ! !

IMHO, THE RESPONSIBILITY FOR QUALITY CONTROL AT S&W, HAS INCREASINGLY BEEN SHIFTED TO THE END USER, OF THEIR PRODUCTS.....

FIREARMS, THAT BY ALL ACCOUNTS, SHOULD HAVE NEVER LEFT THE FACTORY, END UP IN THE HANDS OF CONSUMERS. IT APPEARS THAT THE HIGHLY TOUTED, AND EXPENSIVE PC GUNS, ARE NO BETTER. THERE ARE MANY STORIES, ON OUR FORUM, ABOUT DEFECTIVE GUNS, THAT HAVE BEEN RETURNED SEVERAL TIMES, FOR THE VERY SAME ISSUE, BEFORE THEY ARE FINALLY CORRECTED.....

I have to give subcompacts a little more finger than compact or FS.

Edit: Spellcheck hijacked compact.

When did using capital letters become yelling anyways?
I must have been out of town.

The 3rd day after internet was invented. We had a meeting about it but you were out of town that day.

I'd agree, it sounds like a windage adjustment is in order.

I agree with one eye regarding the final product often needing tweaking... and< not just s&w, or colt, or clock or Kimber, or any and all firearms companies...it is everywhere... firearms, cars, houses, appliances....good enough has become "good enough"... and, it's a real shame.

bright side for us is, aftermarket parts are available for almost everything. we all know someone that has had the same issue, and, knows how to fix it.

WELL, AlHunt, I BELIEVE THAT THE GENTLEMANLY THING TO DO, WOULD HAVE BEEN TO SEND Jessie AND I A MEMO, ADVISING US OF THIS CHANGE IN INTERPRETATION......

I FIND IT VERY ODD, THAT I HAD A "TOP SECRET" CRYPTO CLEARANCE, DURING MY YEARS IN THE U.S. ARMY, BUT I NEVER KNEW ABOUT THIS.......
