Just picked her up last night. Time for a quick cleaning, lube, and then time to hit the range.

I have had my 22c for some time now and have not had a single ammo issue in over 1300+ rounds. Compared to my Buckmark which is finicky (works best with mini mags). But because the Bm is my main 22 i try to only buy mini mags now for both.
The little compact is a fun plinker, not as accurate as the Bm but I wouldnt expect it to be. But i would say the compact does what it is supposed to do, and does it quite well.

My Ruger MK IV and S&W M17 are both more accurate than the M&P 22 Compact.

But neither is near as much fun to shoot.

I really like my 22C. I have one with over 50,000 rounds through it. Not picky at all about ammo. The only piece of advise I can give you is keep your eye on the rear sight elevation screw. If it comes loose and you lose the spring under the sight you are in for quite a wait to get one. I lost mine 2 months ago and they are still telling me in CS that they are backordered. I had a long conversation with one of about 3 different CS people in the last 2 months and he finally was honest enough to tell me that production comes first and he had no idea when the backorder would be filled. Don't take this as a complaint about CS since I've had nothing but great service from them in the past on several guns I own. But it is a real disappointment that I can't get this little spring.

I suspect you are going to enjoy the new M&P 22 Compact a lot. It is a great little handgun that is fun to shoot and easy on the pocketbook. I have two of them, one I shoot often and the other is for use in training new shooters. I started with one, however, when I took new folks to the range for a shooting lesion, I couldn’t pry it from their fingers. Have had no issues with either gun and both have thousands of rounds run through them. I do agree that you should watch the rear sight screw. They tend to come loose and parts are difficult to find. Most of our shooting is done at 7 and 25 yard targets, so I set the sights for the 7 yard target (easy and rewarding for new folks) and simply shoot tight troops on the 25 yard target. Well got about 140 rounds of mini-mags through when the rear site blade stood up vertical. I thought this was a known issue that was fixed from the factory. The windage adjustment screw was backing out as I was firing. I have all the parts, but now to bring it back to LGS or just put it back together with a little blue loctite or something. This shouldn't happen on a brand new gun.

Otherwise, it cycled and fired every round without issue. Ejection was strong and about 6' - 7' feet away.

Only shot 75 rounds with mine and the rear blade sight fell out, took S&W 3 months to send me a new one. The gun shoots great with all ammo you just have to check the rear sight now and then.

So help me out here. If I get the rear sight adjusted where I want it, how do I loctite the set screw without removing it again which will then change the sight location?

Can you just put a tiny drop at the edge of the set screw when it's set where I want it and it will work its way down into the threads a little to hold it?

After I have it adjusted, I put a small piece of scotch tape over the screw.

If I need to re-adjust, I remove the tape. Then I replace it after the adjustment is done.
