I have a three day old S&W M&P Shield 2.0 with the Crimson Trace Red laser module and want to exchange it for the green laser but cannot remove the module. The screw just does not back out even after turning many revolutions and the cannot remove the unit my pushing from below as per instructions. Hate to send it back fro what is apparently simple problem. Any suggestions?
Call The Mother Ship and ask to return it.
Takes about a month round trip/
If you do decide to return it, either do it quickly, or wait until after the Holidays. I believe they close between X-Mas and New Year. That 1 Month **could** become 2 Months due to Holidays.
Do they not mold in a threaded insert? Please don't tell me they just run a screw straight into the plastic...?
Could not tell. When it came back from S&W, I exchanged the red laser for a green. I had to remove the red to send it back to Crimson and then I saw a threaded insert. You might be able to pry it out but decided it best to let them fix their problem.
UPDATE, I got my pistol back from S&W almost three weeks gone. They said it was a stripped screw. Over aggressive handling at factory. My advice make sure that you are able to remove laser module. Sending it to CT to exchange Red to Green.
UPDATE. Got my pistol back from S&W almost three weeks gone. They said the problem was a stripped screw. Looks like someone was over aggressive at the factory. My advice check your weapon to make sure you can remove module. Sending unit to CT to exchange for the Green laser.
