Went to the range today with a primarly objective of chronographing 3 guns. Data is from an Oehler 35 chrono, 5 shots per average. The S&W and Ruger both had similar numbers of rounds through the bore.
S&W M&P9 2.0, 9mm, 5" barrel, Federal HST +P 147gr - 1063fps/369 ft lbs
S&W American Eagle 124 gr - 1123/347
Ruger SR9C 3.4" barrel, Federal HST +P 147 gr - 960 fps/300 ft lbs
FN AR 5.56mm, 16" barrel, Hornady Superformance 75gr BTHP - 2723fps/1235ft lbs
Surprised at how close the generic Am Eagle was in energy to the +P HST.
The Superformance 5.56mm is the most potent ammo Hornady makes in that caliber, with the AMAX variant, it is supersonic until almost 1100 yds based JBM ballistics calculations. Don
