Question About the “Pro Series” on the slide...

It’s hard to tell from online photos, but do any of you know if the “Pro Series” lettering on the side of these M&P models is laser engraved or something or is it just printed on? I’m just wondering about if someone were to refinish the slide with something like cerakote, would it still be visible or would it be completely covered up? Just curious. Thanks!

I just looked at mine. It seems to be laser etched into the finish. So to refinish in cerakote, or any other finish that requires stripping down to bare metal, I'd say the lettering is going to be lost.

Sadly, it's laser-etched. The Pro Series slides are just ordinary M&P 1.0 slides, so they just mark them as "Pro Series" they aren't producing specifically for Pro Series models so there are no additional engraving like there is on Performance Center models.

So yeah, if you have it cerakoted it will cover up the "Pro Series" on the slide, and since the slide is case hardened, you can't easily have the slide engraved with those markings as a guide because the surface has a hardness comparable to that of diamond.
However, you coukd settle for a two-tone look if you leave the recessed area of the the slide un-cerakoted.
