Default 22 compact take down lever

After disassembling and reassembling my new 22 compact, I've noticed my take down lever is no longer held captive... it can be pulled out from its normal position, even with the slide closed. Clearly, I missed something on reassembly, although the pistol still functions perfectly. Anyone have thoughts on what I screwed up?

I have one but have never done more than field strip and clean. You have obviously missed a retainer or spring retainer for that lever. Mine has never done that, but Ive never taken it apart.

Check exploded parts views and see what you missed that retains that part. Good luck.

Default 22 compact

Thanks for the reply Dad. Unfortunately,S#W hold parts diagrams for this pistol close to the vest. I can't find anything that helps, but have found evidence that S#W gunsmiths want to preserve all work on this pistol for themselves. Kind of childish if you ask me. Where would we be without companies like Apex to improve the factories shortcomings. If anyone can find a link for an exploded parts diagram on the 22 compact I would be forever grateful. Thanks all.

I copied the following text from an M&P22 Compact owners manual. Maybe you should call them on it.

“A parts list can be obtained by contacting Smith & Wesson Customer Service.”
