I was installing an Apex trigger in my M&P 9 2.0 and had issues with the getting the pin on the trigger itself to engage. Tried the vice method which is recommended and felt like I was going to break something so I stopped. Pulled the trigger bar back out and tried the pin in the vice again and after really forcing it, the pin started to move. But, it moved enough where I was unable to install the trigger bar and was unable to knock it back out using a punch. That thing is really in there.

I reached out to Apex and they said it's all normal. That they recommend using the vice because it is so tight and once installed you are not able to remove it again. Asked me to send them the trigger and trigger bar and they would examine the trigger to make sure there is no damage and would then install the trigger bar for me.

So I am going to send it all to them, but wondering if anyone else had had issues like this? I bought the full kit thinking it would give me the most options, but it now sounds like I will have to purchase a new trigger bar IF I ever wanted to move away from the flat trigger.

Interesting. I’ve been thinking about installing a Apex in my 2.0. So once you go flat you can’t go back?

I had the same issue. Ended up beating it in. Doubt that pin will come out without damaging the shoe.

I've pushed the pin in with a vice and removed it with a punch multiple times (at least 3). Not sure what I did different. My vice does have flat faces on it (and it's a big machinist vice).

Minimize the variables

I don't know about the 2.0 specifically, but in my 1.0 shield and my 2.0 full size I smacked it in with a by nylon hammer on a block of wood, didn't have to pound on it either. I actually pushed it back out with a hammer and punch once in the shield.

I think there is just an issue with this pin. I was able to get it in using the vise, but can't get it out to put the trigger bar on. I was banging on it pretty good last night for one final try. Bent a non-marring punch and put some good nicks in the pin itself. It's going back.

They said that to me as well, however I was able to back the pin out just enough to get the trigger bar out using a punch, didn't really take much.

Swing by a local gun shop to see if they might be able to help before shipping it all off. They saw me pull out the trigger and before I could say anything said, "pin not moving for you?" Apparently they have had 4-5 flat triggers have the same issue and on a couple of them tried using a roofing hammer without any luck. I did the same by the way which is how I bent a punch.

So off to Apex it will go.

Just an update.

Got word from Apex that they were unable to back-out the pin so they replaced the trigger, mounted the trigger bar and it is being shipped back as we speak.

Apparently there really was an issue.

I sent email to Apex hoping they can do something. Thought about driving pin all the way thru put thinking I might damage trigger housing. Two of my punches bent trying to drive pin either way. Any suggestions?
