Recently picked up a 2nd Shield 45 of newer vintage. Unlike my first one, this has the 2.0 on the slide. Other than that, the two appeared identical. The trigger out of the box seemed okay with the notion parts would be polished and an Apex trigger installed. Note, trigger only as Shield 45 #1 didn't need the sear.
Did the obligatory breakdown and polished particular parts. Included a set of Ameriglo I dot sights, Apex trigger, and SSguiderod. For some reason the trigger pull had travel on the back end and didn't break as clean as #1. Localized it down to the sear and snatched another off ebay from someone who had installed an Apex kit. One look and it was apparent #2 had the old style sear. Must have been old stock but explains the mush on the back end. Polished and dropped in the other, tweaked the trigger loop to adjust trigger travel, and now #2 is identical to #1. Breaks good on the back end at ~4.5 lbs, ideal for a CCW.
Needless to say #2 is just as accurate and reliable as #1. Not a hiccup with reloads or factory. Factory carry ammo and reloads hit the same point of aim. Gotta love a compact 45 that will keep 90+% in a 4" group off hand at 25 yards. #1 has a Lasermax light/laser and #2 w/o.
