Default m&p 22 problem

I bought a used m&p 22 fullsize.
I am having lots of failure to eject and some failure to extract.
I also can not get the slide off.
I lock it to the rear and pull down the take down lever and try to pull the slide back and up. That back and up is a no go.
Any ideas?
The ammo is Federal target grade performance.

I bought one for my wife a couple years back. So many issues, we just sold it. I hope you find a solution soon!
Had the same issues with an M&P 22 Compact.

Are you pulling the take-down lever out of the frame? It won't come completely out, but it has to clear the return spring rod in order to pull back and remove the slide. -S2

Edit to add: I have one and although it's no target gun, it works great with SV ammo.

Clean it real well. Make sure the extractor groove is clean. Also make sure it is well lubed. I spread mine with rem oil and work the action and spray it again. I rarely have any issues with any ammo, usually only after heavy use with a can and it just get too dirty. If you continue to have problems call smith and Wesson. They will get it straightened out

I have about 2200 rounds through my M&P22. It has never liked Federal ammo Ö lots of failures to feed and failures to extract. I have had good success with CCI Minimags and Aguila SuperExtra. Glad you figured out how to take it apart for cleaning.
