Default Shield 45 2.0???

How can I determine if my Shield 45 is a 2.0? I have seen pics both with and without the 2.0 stamped in the slide. I don't have the box.

Well, you could call S&W...but as far as I know, the Shield 45 was released with all the features that were incorporated in the Shield 2.0 models. The early release guns just weren't marked as 2.0. The one I had was a pre-2.0 model, if you want to call it that...but it had all the new features of the 2.0 line, just not the stamp.

The original Shield 45 had the textured grip the same as the 2.0s do. I believe it would be hard to determine whether it is a 2.0 vs 1.0 just by aesthetics other than the 2.0 stamp on the slide. I am sure someone with more knowledge will be along and I look forward to learning this with you.

The Shield 45 was brought out ahead of the Shield 9/40 2.0. It basically started life as a 2.0. From a marketing perspective they couldn't call it a 2.0 as it would have slowed sales on the Shield 9/40's. Everyone wants latest and greatest but you can't get caught with inventory.

Shield .45 1.0 & 2.0 owner here.

The gentleman above is correct. All .45 shields are identical. They just started stamping 2.0 on them after a while.

The grip texture should be the first clue I would think.

I have an early Shield 45, which has the adjustable trigger loop (for those who know how to make the adjustment). Awhile back there was a post saying the later makes do not have this trigger loop, please confirm.

Just picked up another Shield 45, much later production than my 1st and confirmed the later ones DO have the trigger loop, see pic. This loop can be altered to adjust trigger position when the sear breaks.

My Shield .45 was given to me, believe it or not, and does not have a 2.0 stamped on it anywhere that I can find. I don't think it had been fired much and I've only out 200 or so rounds of my reloads through it. Runs fine. It's keeping company with my Glocks.

The Shield 45 is the original 2.0 M&P, with or without the stamp.
