Default M2.0 Compact 4" 9mm Safariland Holster Verification

I have tried my Safariland rep and it was referred to research and development.

Per dept regs, I require a level 1 holster for plain clothes carry. The only holster that fits this bill and it matches our duty ALS holster is Safariland 6378 or 7378.

Well hell, they dont list one for the 4" 2.0.

They list a 7378 for the 4.25" 2.0. I have not been able to verify that it will work as some of my research showed older 7378s made prior to the 2.0 will not work as the slide width is slimmer on the 2.0 and thus defeating the ALS lock.

I also read an article that 6378 holsters for the 45 M&P will work for the 2.0. This question was asked of Safariland...still waiting on an answer.

if you have a 2.0 Compact 4" 9mm and a 7378 for the 2.0 4.25" or a 6378 for a .45 M&P....can you let me know if they work. I have some further detailed questions.

thanks

I have a 6377-319 and my 9mm 4” 2.0 compact “sorta” fits. It locks into place and the ALS thumb release works BUT the muzzle sticks out a bit

Hit up CopsPlus. They helped me when I bought my 7ts for my 2.0 full size. I was unable to find one prior to them helping.

Safariland finally responded and model 7378-222-xxx work for both 4" and 4.25"

they will not make one specifically for a 4" model

I am a little disappointed with my 4" model and Apex parts.

Per dept regs....I would need a min of 5 lbs trigger press. My Shield 1.0 with duty Apex breaks at a very crisp 6 lbs.

Using factory parts....my 2.0 4" is a mushy 6 lbs. My goal was to get a crisp break from 5-6 lbs.

My 2.0 4" breaks at 4 lbs with duty Apex parts and factory trigger spring or over 7 lbs using all duty Apex parts. Using all Apex parts....it feels like I am fighting the trigger. It wants to keep moving fwd as I press the trigger.

I may have to return the factory safety plunger.

The break is sweet at 4 lbs.

Nothing beats my 1.0 with the Apex forward set sear. That trigger is insane! Obviously not for carry though. I'm assuming the Safariland 7378-222 extends a bit past the muzzle since it's for a 4.25" and not the 4"? I guess the holster extending .25" further is better than the muzzle extending out of the holster...

337,

yes sir!!!!!!!

I am going to pass (for right now) on the holster.

I need to learn to like this piece.

I am using a G21 thumb break holster that as tad loose, but works for range applications.

I know you said you are holding off, but if you register for an account at Safariland.com, they regularly send out discount codes. IIRC, right now they have a 30% off code out. Ordering directly from Safariland is a little frustrating; LONG wait times and little or no communication from them. However you can get exactly what you want. I ordered a plain 6377 for off duty and a basketweave 6390 from them for my full sized M&P 2.0 in 9mm. IIRC the 6377 was $30something dollars and the 6390 was $80something dollars using coupon codes they sent in their newsletters. The 6377 took over a month to receive and the 6390 took 3 weeks or so. Like I said, slow shipping times, but good prices and, coming directly from Safariland, you know you are getting the proper holster.

With the Compact being just a slightly shorter version of the full sized, a full sized holster should work well for the Compact, similar to the way a Glock 17 holster will work fine for a Glock 19, the holster will be just a little longer than the gun. It won't be as bad for the Compact as it is for a G19 since the Compact is only about 1/4" shorter than the full sized, where the G19 is about 1/2" shorter than the G17.

Whatever you do, just make sure any Safariland ALS holster you buy is specifically made for the 2.0. Safariland redesigned the locking piece for the 2.0 and I have read that, if you try to use a 1.0 ALS holster for a 2.0, the slides are just enough different that, with some vigorous twisting (like if someone was trying to grab your gun), you can defeat the ALS lock. Just something to be aware of.
