Default 3.6” Compact LE availability?

My dad went to order the new 3.6” compact in the LE configuration the other day and the dealer couldn’t find any available at any of his distributors. Has this model actually been released yet? If not, anyone have a clue when it might be available?

Being it’s the M&P forum and S&W just released the M&P 2.0 compact with a 3.6 barrel perhaps that is what the OP is referring to...

There is an LE model listed on the SW site.

M&P(R)9 M2.0™ 3.6" Compact LE | Smith & Wesson

It comes with 3 mags and usually has special pricing.

Sportsmans Outdoor Superstore has this new model S&W M&P 9 with the 3.6" barrel for sale right now, limited time offer, for $399.99 and there is an S&W rebate of $50.00 available as well, which makes the eventual cost $349.99. My experience as well as my son's experience with this vendor has been excellent!

That's a pretty good deal, as they are $475-$500 on the big auction site.

I bought my 3.6" compact from them. Quick and easy and hard to beat free shipping. They're one of my favorite online gun stores.

I'm a big fan of Sportsman's Outdoor Superstore, but though they've got a great price on it, they're frequently out of stock on the 2.0 Compact 3.6" (SKU11688). I got mine from Smoky Mountain Guns and Ammo. $429.99 shipped. $30 more, but still a great price, and they ship free and immediately.

So I feel kinda dumb. I called S&W today to inquire about the 3.6” LE model. I (wrongly) assumed that this configuration was available to anyone at the non-discounted price, as I have seen previous NIB LE models for sale on the big auction site. I was told by the guy on the phone that it is available via special order for LEO’s only. Oh well.

OK so lemme 'splain.

The SKU is only available to LEs. There's typically nothing different about the pistol itself. S&W did this with the 1.0s as well.

Just buy a "normal" one and add a few spare mags. I don't think the LE one even comes with night sights.

Edit: It does come with Tritium sights.

They were hard to find at distributors until just a couple of weeks ago. My dealer ordered mine from Lipsey's and it was here in two days not counting Sunday.
Very happy with it. Perfect size and balance for me.

For any of the LEO's or retired LEO's who have bought this weapon (11679), I'm trying to get a review regarding concealability and where you carry it, controllability during rapid triple taps, ergonomics for a medium-sized hand, and anything else you wanna throw at me!
One last thing.....No website I've visited has it listed as an option. Do I have to call and request a special order? If so, who did you go through?

Don't know that it's true that 11679 is only available to LEOs or not, but the 11688 w/o thumb safety and the 11694 w/ thumb safety are available to everyone. The only difference between those and the 11679 (LE model) is the tritium night sights on the LE.

LE only guns usually come with a 3rd mag.

I ordered my 2.0 4” from Quantico Tactical. I had to provided LE creds.

I could have sworn I saw a 3.6” as one of the selections.

My order with Quantico Tactical LE side was trouble free.

Dad was wanting the LE model because it comes with night sights and he doesn’t have easy access to a gunsmith to have a set installed. I think the closest one is about a 3hr round trip for him.

Talked to him last night and he ended up ordering the 11688.

He can ship the slide alone somewhere to have sights installed. Some places will install for free if you buy the sights from them. He'll just have to pay some shipping.

The 4" is available with or without night sights, I bought one without. What's strange is that S&W is only offering the 3.6" with night sights for the Individual Officer Program. Most IOP guns come with 3 magazines instead of 2. The 2.0 Compacts come with 3 mags.

I just ordered one thru SOS today, as it came in stock today. Good company to do business with.
