Default New 2.0 Compact 3.6”

New member here. Just picked up a compact with the 3.6” barrel. I really like the balance of the pistol in my hand. I usually carry a Glock 26 but I think this might bump that gun to the safe.
I am short and stocky and like to carry AIWB. I find this gun ideal for me. The .4” difference really makes a huge difference for my body type. I equate it to my inability to tolerate AIWB a Glock 19 vs the Glock 26.
A little less barrel length and it’s not digging into my groin. Been wearing it all day with no issues at all.
Took the 3.6” to the range today and fired some 115 grain and my carry HST 147 grain. The gun ran like a champ. Super ergonomic and flat shooting.
Just wanted to share my experience with everyone. If you are built like I am this gun might be a good fit for you. Below is one of my targets from this morning.

Congrats and nice shooting I have to agree the 3.6" feels really balanced in my hands too. My Glocks haven't been shot much after getting my 2.0's. The 2.0's are just more comfortable to shoot plus I think they look better.

Got mine Monday; pictures are in the other thread. Finally took it out today, and it is THE BOMB. 150 rounds through it without a hiccup, the gun points naturally, and it's just laser accurate for me. It's the perfect compromise of size and capacity.

You prefer the 3.6 over the 4"? I pick up my 4" tomorrow from my FFL, but I'm starting to get buyer's remorse.

Me too. That didn't stop me from ordering a 3.6" today though.

The 3.6 feels a little bit better in my hands. Not going to get rid of the 4" though. Just get both.

Thumbs up

Congratulations on the 3.6. I got mine last Monday and feel the same as ScottS about mine. Perfect size and balance for me with good capacity. For me personally, this is the grail of the M&P carry guns. The trigger on mine is great, and I can shoot this gun at speed with no difficulties.
This one is likely to sent the 45 Shield and the Glock 26 into hiding.

I think this question will be answered for each us based on personal preference. My son had a 4" 2.0 compact but decided he wanted the slightly shorter barrel. He EDC's his gun, while I EDC a Shield .45 without having thoughts of changing that. I also have a 1.0 M&P 9 with a 5" barrel, and it shoots very well. But I personally prefer the "Commander" sized pistol. The 4" scratches that itch for me. I was very interested in the 4" for myself so wound up buying his from him and he has purchased the 3.6". He has only just received it so no feedback from him as yet. I told him he ain't gettin' the 4" back from me!

3502day that is a great looking little M&P, and good shooting by the way! I just got a 4" Compact and love it. I'm tempted to trade my old Shield for the 3.6" version. It never hurts to have 2.

Just picked up my 4" from FFL. Never seen or shot the G19 in person, so I was under the impression that the size was much bigger than it accually is. The 2.0 4" is quiet compact as it is. Upon seeing it, I was pleasantly surprised. I no longer have buyer's remorse. Now I'm just waiting for the G26 size to be released. Then I can carry the 4" in the cooler months, and the G26 size with a 15 round or 17 round reload in the summer.

Thanks for the replies. This is a phenomenal feeling gun in hand. I like that it’s made by a an established American company.

I compared the M&P to my Glock 26 and the difference to me is negligible. It’s just a hair longer in the slide and about 1/4 inch longer in the mag well. Very easy for me to conceal AIWB.

I really like my EDC 1.0c so wasn't all that excited when the 2.0c came out. But the 3.6 barrel version is looking better. I find I am more and more carrying mine 1.0c w/ either 14 or 15 rnd mags so that makes it nearly identical to the 2.0c-3.6. good job S&W.

My 3.6" showed up today. I can't believe the price difference between the 3.6 and 4". I did find it for $399 shipped so it was a better deal than a blue label gun at my local LEO supplier. I really like the feel of this one better than my 4". The balance is just great. I'm going to run 100 rounds through it tomorrow and see how it shoots.

Yep, I'm getting the 3.6 in .40 S&W. Keeping my 1.0 FS 9mm and my 1.0 Shield 9 (both have the Apex kits and triggers). But gotta have that 3.6.

Congratulations on your new 2.0 Compact. I've been eyeing the M&P 2.0 compact, especially the 3.6" barrel version, for a while. It looks like quite a gun, even more attractive with the $50 rebate.
Then I realized that I already have a 1.0 Compact, and with the full size magazine, it is for all intents and purposes the exact same size as the 2.0. Realizing this, I don't know if it's worth the money for me to buy the 2.0.
I never did like the 1.0 with the regular magazine, the grip is just too short, but with the full size mag, it's very comfortable. It's not as good looking as the grip on the 2.0 because of the X-grip extension, but still very comfortable to shoot. The trigger on my 1.0 Compact is very good, and the texture on the grip is fine as is.
I still would like to get the 2.0 and may eventually, but honestly the 1.0 with full size grip is great the way it is.

I really enjoy mine. The 3.6"" barrel is in that sweet spot of barrel length for my taste. It and my CZ P07 area just the right size for me.

You can add Hyve +3 extensions to your 1.0 to make it similar to a 2.0. Someone on this board said X-grip will be coming out with a sleeve so you can use a 2.0 compact mag on a 1.0 compact.

Here's a pic of my 2.0 compact 3.6" next to my 40c with a Hyve +3 extension, SL 9mm conversion barrel and Talon grips. I basically turned my 1.0 into a 2.0.

Thanks for the picture of your M&P Compact 1.0. That pretty much confirms my idea that the 1.0 with the X-grip is about the same size as the new 3.6" 2.0.
I have a slightly different setup but I think the dimensions are the same. I am using the 1.0 with the full size magazine and the X-grip sleeve as in the picture below, so basically I have the same capacity as a full size gun but with the shorter barrel. Plus I have the Crimson Trace laser grips on mine which is a nice extra which I don't believe is available on the 2.0.
As much as I would like to get the 2.0, I'll probably buy something that is not so similar to something like I already have. There's a lot to choose from out there.

Actually, the 1.0 Compact with the X-Grip is about 5.5" tall whereas the 2.0 Compacts are 5.0" tall. However, the 1.0 with the pinky extension (for the 12 round mag) is about 5.0" when measured from the front bottom end. I've included an image to show you what I mean.

Also, anyone who is thinking about buying the new 3.6" (or any other M&P, except for the Shield), Smith & Wesson is running a $50 Rebate program this Summer. Here are the details (I just bought another 3.6" and submitted my rebate form):

Smith and Wesson is offering a $50 rebate for M&P Purchases (excluding the Shield) made from June 29, 2018 through September 2, 2018.

Here's a link to the Promotion:

2018 Summer Savings Promotion | Smith & Wesson

Here's a link to the Rebate Submission Form:

I'll say this! If (and I hope it happens) S&W releases an M&P45 compact with a full size but shorter grip (maybe 8 rounds?) and a 4" or .3.6" barrel, I'll be on it like stink on a tumblebug!

I have noticed my M&P's, 1.0 and 2.0 Compact safe gun have a larger trigger guard than my Glock. I tried the P10c and didn't care for it feel wise. I will buy a 2.0 FS or a G19X next. G19X just for chits and giggles and the wife likes them. Friend brought his by the house and she liked it. Color and the neat extended mags. Color matches her AR in FDE. WOMEN!

My 3.6" is out for delivery today! I am like a little kid at Christmas.

Now, I'm waiting for X-Grip to convert my 9c to a closer cousin.

Default New M&P 2.0c 3.6" owner chiming in

Hey folks,

Thanks for all the feedback from new owners I just got my 3.6" 2.0c two weeks ago and love it. First handgun, long-time rifle owner, and I plan on using for edc.

A couple of thoughts:

1) A bummer it came in a cardboard box instead of with a plastic case like the 4.0" version. Was hoping for the case because it seems to keep everything nicely organized, magazines and palm swells. Ended up buying a soft-sided case to take it to the range for $20 so I guess it's no big deal once I find a holster.

2) Having a hard time figuring out a OWB holster for it, I suppose it's just too new yet. Hesitant to purchase a holster for the 4.0" model and "make do," because part of the reason I wanted the shorter slide is that I'm slender and don't wear baggy clothing, and wanted to make sure it doesn't peek out below the hem of shirts I'm wearing and I feel like the 4.0" holster will just make the shorter slide pointless for this purpose. IWB seems...uncomfortable, and I don't want to buy all new pants just to accommodate.

3) Love the way it handles, have only put 100 rds through it so far but despite being a novice, and having a tendency to always pull 1"-2 "left of my point of aim, I'm able to keep my shots within a 3" cluster at 7yrds. I think it's more accurate than I'm capable of being, so far, and looking forward to getting better through practice.

4) I did go with the manual thumb safety since you can take it out but you can't add it later. At first it was really getting in my way for racking the slide, but I'm already getting used to racking "around it." It just seems like a HUGE manual safety for the size of the gun.

5) Planning on upgrading to some sort of tritium sight at some point, as well as a light. Interested to see what the shorter rail will accommodate.

6) I rented the shield before purchasing the 2.0c, the shield felt waaaay too small in my hand to fire accurately, and I have small hands. Double stack is much more comfortable.

7) With the 17rd mag and mag extender, this feels just like the full-size 2.0 I rented at the range. I can get a full grip with the 15rd mag, so it's a moot point.

8) When I handled the 4.0" version, all I could think was "dang this feels very front-heavy." In an imbalanced sort of way, most of the weight out in front of my hands, making the front of the firearm want to dip. I'm sure this helps for recoil, but there's hardly any recoil with the 9mm and I'm not strong/used to firing handguns. The 3.6" version feels like the weight is much more centered above my grip. Again, novice here.

Cheers!

Huh. Mine came in a nice plastic box, with a place for all the goodies.

Wonder what that's all about.

Strange!

I even called S&W to confirm that I didn't get okey-doked by gallery of guns, and they said the 3.6" ships in a cardboard box instead of a plastic case.

No idea what that's about!

***Edit: Perhaps it's because I ordered the manual safety version (#11694) and yours is without? I had to wait a looong time for it to be available when the non-safety versions were available from lots of sellers.***

Well, I checked the outside of the case, and the SKU/Serial is correct (thought maybe they stuck it in a box for a 4”). Maybe it is the thumb-safety. Seems like a shaft if it is, though.

Such a shaft! Double-checked my own box, and the sku/serial number on the sticker stuck nicely and seemingly un-tampered with on the outside of the cardboard box matches the serial on my firearm.

:-(

That's weird. Mine came in a plastic box. Maybe they're selling so many that they're running out of plastic boxes.

Maybe Gallery of Guns placed an order with them being in a cardboard box at a cheaper rate... I'm thinking this may just be a GoG thing...

Is yours the model with the thumb safety?

My own 3.6 also came with the plastic case. Something amiss with yours. I'd call back and ask for the case. The phone folks at S&W are not always correct.

Where did you find the Xgrip for the 15 round 2.0 mag to convert to the 1.0 compact? I've been looking, but haven't found one yet.

From what I've read here the X-grip for the 15 rounders aren't out yet.

My 3.6 without thumb safety came in a plastic box.

I wouldn't care if plastic or cardboard, as long as everything's there.
The boxes just stack up in the basement anyway.

I have not found one yet, which is why I am waiting! I also emailed them to get info on it. So far, They have not replied yet.

Having a 9c and a 3.6" 2.0, I already have lots of options, 12 round, 15 round, 17 round, in various combinations - I just want one more! I now have quite a few 12 round, 15 round, and 17 round mags, with a few X-grip and S&W adapters, so I can already play around. I just believe in getting stuff while it is available, before it goes out of production, which has happened a few times in my lifetime!

Stupid question but need to ask. Dont want to open a new thread.

Will a 2.0 3.6" fit the same holster as a 4.0" barrel?

Just picked mine up today and looking at holster options.

Thanks for your guys help.

Yes. I use a Bravo Concealment Torsion Kydex IWB, and it fits just fine. The holster could be .5" shorter at the end of the slide, but you can't notice it unless you stick your finger up there. Secures the gun perfectly.
