Default Bodyguard 380 Question

Hi, I had some issued while in the range with my bodyguard 380 having a stove pipe type of malfunction, Im pretty sure im holding the pistol super tight and locking my wrist but is it an issue if my grip is kinda pressing onto the bottom of the magazine??

The grip is so small that I think when I grip near the magazine part its causing a malfunction but im not sure if this is the case...

I don't know.

I don't really see how your grip could interfere with the magazine function on one of those but I guess never say never. You could try relaxing your grip a tad and see what happens. I know limp wristing is a real thing but I personally haven't been able to create the phenomenon.

To be clear, your stove piping is the slide is closing on an empty fired casing with the casing sticking out sideways clamped between the chamber and slide's ejection port?

Is it a new gun? Is it used but new to you? Or is this a gun you've had that's just started acting up?

If you're a bit of a novice a good place to start is by asking a knowledgeable Range Master or Range Officer to pop off a few rounds with it or at least someone truly experienced with shooting handguns.

It could be your grip but IMHO it's more likely the ammo. What ammo are you using that's having stove pipes? Try it with good new brand name hardball. If it works fine with that then you can start trying to find some hollow points it likes. It could be bullets that are too light or cartridges not hot enough.

Does it matter how full the magazines are? Can you try different magazines?

Digging deeper you'd look at the ejector, but not likely.

I really haven't shot the one I have very much. I got it when it was on sale plus a rebate, It was just too cheap not to buy. It's not like I needed it. I already had an LCP and a P3AT floating around here hardly getting used. The Bodyguard does seem a bit more refined and clearly has more visible sights.

Good luck.
