Default 380 Body Guard any on here?

I recently bought a used 380ACP shield from Cabela's. Had problems with right off the start. We/Cabela's sent it back to S&W they did repairs (replaced firing pin etc.) test fired check out okay. So I go to range with it "out door" can't hit a broad side of a barn. Put it back in the bag thinking I'll try this inside. Couple weeks later went to indoor range and was all over the target at 5 yards and 7 yards. I felt it was me by then and something didn't feel like I had a grip on it. One of the Range Masters suggested mag finger extensions. Found and looked up Garrison mag extensions which added 2 more finger grips. This helped the grip..BUT..one of the magazines wants to release prematurely while firing. I'm thinking that the new ends on magazine might be a little oversize and preventing magazine to lock as should.
Anyone else had these issues?

I have the Bodyguard. I kept trading it off for something else that I thought I needed instead. I kept going back to the Bodyguard, so the forth time I realized for me the Bodyguard is the best pocket pistol there is. Love mine. Really to bad you have had problems. The trigger pull is very long and you really have to concentrate on trigger control. Hope it works out ok, I would think the extensions are you're magazine problems.

I bought one, hated the trigger pull, sold it quickly. I bought a Ruger custom LCP. It is perfect for carrying around the farm. When I leave my property, I carry a CS 45.

. I put these extensions on mine, bought them online, can’t remember the brand name... they wouldn’t quite lock into the gun at first, after slapping them in and out for a while they are fine... I had a gunsmith put in a Galloway short throw trigger kit and stronger hammer spring... it’s been a fine functioning gun, I prefer smith and wesson over ruger, so putting a little bit of money into this gun wasn’t a bad choice for me... I don’t carry it every day, and when I do, I carry it iwb ...

Did the trigger kit give you a softer feel where you could come back to a solid feel just before it fires?

It’s back in the cabinet, I didn’t pay that much attention... I know it functions fine now, it had a light strike issue if i remember correctly before modifications. I rarely carry it... I’ve been carrying my shield 45 lately... good luck maybe someone else will chime in who carries it daily

I absolutely love my M&P Bodyguard. I had a few light strikes with certain ammo so I decided to put in a Galway Santiago trigger system in my bodyguard and I have to say no more light strikes and a much shorter pull trigger. Same weight pull but slightly shorter. This really made a big improvement for this pistol. I always shot my pistol fine I don't mind the heavier triggers but its worth the $99.00 dollars for this trigger system. I also have a steel recoil spring guide and slightly heavier recoil spring. My only complaint is the right side laser button doesn't work. The left side works and I am left handed. Anyone have these button problems on their bodyguard lasers?

There was a YouTube video that showed using a Bic Ink pen tube to help the buttons. Try looking that video up and that may work for yours.

I love everything about my M&P Body Guard. After testing several brands and bullet styles ( aware that all pocket pistols are ammo finicky) when I first purchased it 3 years ago, I found it likes Hornady American Gunner the best. So after well over 700 rounds 100% trouble, it is my favorite carry in a DeSantis Nemisis holster

5 yards!!! That is really close. I can throw rocks and come close to a 6 inch group at 5 yards. Rocks are pretty much free too.

I never had any problem with accuracy on my Bodyguard. But, that was because I had worked on the S&W 637 J-Frame revolver for almost 4 months.

These smal, lightweight handguns present a double whammy. The light weight makes them snappy, and the small size gives you very little room to grip.

I have the Garrison Grips, and they help a lot. Three fingers are stronger than one. Got them at Amazon

The other advice is to grip the gun FIRM. Keep squeezing until your hands shake, then back off till they just stop shaking.

Third, is lots of practice. Start at 3 yards, then 5, then to 7. After that, you will be ready to conquor 10 and 15 yards. It's hard work, but worth it.

I tried both the Bodyguard and LCP. Both went to other people.
I could hit my targets with both, but they were a bit too snappy for my aging wrists. I found that my practice sessions with them left me with minimal enjoyment and no yearning to shoot them. I like being proficient with what I carry, so I switched to a 649 J-frame for everyday around town carry, and a 3913 or a Sig Ultra Compact for my journeys to the dark side (where avoidance is my first line of defense). I very much enjoy shooting all three of them. I do miss the ease of carry and compactness of both the Bodyguard and LCP. Neither of them gave me any trouble with function, and for what they are intended to be, they are both good. Getting a good grip on them is of great importance for accuracy and function.

That extra 10 ounces on the 649 does help tame the snappiness.

My bodyguard has approx. 2k rounds now. Never a hiccup. I did replace the recoil springs though around 1k just for insurance. These little guns have pretty weak springs in them. but mine keeps working well.
I carry it with Federal hydrashocks or HST's. ( both)

I have nearly 1,000 rounds through my Bodyguard. I had one light primer strike in the first 100 rounds, and zero malfunctions since. Here in Las Vegas the weather can be very hot this time of year, so it becomes a very good warm weather EDC pistol.

Mine too. I carry it as my edc/ccw in the summer when its hot. In the winter, I carry it sometimes as a BUG. I always considered it a cheap throwaway gun, but the little bugger endeared itself with its light weight, small size, and reliablity.
After a few hundred rounds, i got so used to the long trigger that I can shoot bullseyes with it and amazes everyone on the range with their 5 inch barelled target pistols, and I shoot better with a 2.75 inch bodyguard!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Yesterday at the range I fired 50 rounds thru it. This is after I installed the Galloway extensions to the mag. It helps the two little fingers in balance but still is off. The aim is about 2-3 inches higher than it actually fires. I don't use the laser it didn't seem to help before all of this. I'm glad some one mentioned here about the trigger upgrade cause I'm now considering doing that. I just ordered The Hogue18501 HandAll Beavertail grip sleeve. I felt it kicking the palm of my hand and the grip felt like I was loosing it. Also the new magazine I had to buy for it since it only came with one "used" after installing grip extensions the new magazine wants to eject after firing 3 rounds. I'm convinced if I work with this un a little more I'm going to whip it into shape. Note I did fir my sons new P365 9M yesterday and it felt about the same in recoil.

my BG is going to be carried in a Vedder pocket locker holster [Kydex]. presently am using a Remora, which is a very good holster also. this is my second Kydex pocket holster and feel it is safest way to pocket carry. Lehigh Xtreme Penetrator is my carry ammo, after alot of test firing [expensive!].

I have one. I pocket carry it at the office (in the warmer months). I only have around 500 rounds through mine, but it has been 100% reliable. It's accurate enough at self defense distances. Anywhere else, I carry one of my Shields.
