Default 15 or 17 roind mag for new 9C?

I just got my new 3.6” 2.0 9C this week. I love it so far but have yet to get to the range.

Anyhow included with the lackage was two 15 round mags, and two grip extensions I believe are for converting the use of full size 17 round mags.

I want to buy very soon at least one more mag. I am debating between another 15 round mag as that is how I would carry the 9c. I may as well train the way I would carry.

On the other hand, it might be nice to have the 17 round mag for home nightstand use and also at the range.

I know people will say get bith, but I’ve tapped into the budget already to buy the gun and also still need to buy a holster. So I really would like to only buy one mag for now.

What would you donand why?

Where is the best price for either the 15 or 17 round mags?

Planning on missing a lot, hoping to get lucky with two extra rounds?

If so, get the 17 round mag. Or, spend the money on ammo to reduce misses.

17 rounders can be had for $22-$25. 15 rounders currently cost around $40... I'm stocking up on 17 rounders until the 15 rounders are more reasonably priced.

I EDC with the 15 rounders in the gun, and carry one or two 17 rounds on the weak side. Brownells have a 3 pack of 17 round mags on sale for around $60 shipped... That's what I brought.

Using that logic, he should get 10 rounders then... Better yet, just get a revolver...

With my calibrated hands the 15 rounders feel more balanced in my 3.6" compact. .

I’m a die hard 9c 1.0 guy. I love my 9c 2.0 as well. Having said that. Go for the 17 round mag first. It’ll give you a chance to test out the included mag adapter.

Gun mag warehouse has 15 round I think aluminum mags for $30. They show 15 round steel at $40 as well as steel 17 round for $40

Since the range and SD class I go to has comcrete floors and we drop the mags, I would prefer steel.

The difference in price of $25 versus $40 is not even 2 boxes of ammo. Not a lot of extra practice the way I see it. But th n again. Shooting 75 rounds is more fun than looking at a sheet metal box with a spring in it!

Get the 17 rounder. It's more affordable, and gives you the option of a larger grip. Although my hands fit the 15 rounder, there is a different feel with a full-size mag - I do have a better grip with it. You don't have CCW with it, but it makes sense as a spare/range mag. YMMV.

I just ordered 6 of the 17 round magazines, since the 15 round are pricey and/or out of stock.

Botach has free shipping $25 for 1, $22 for 3-5, $19.95 for 6+

I bought the 3 Pack of 17 round mags. At the time, nobody had 15 round mags, and the price for the 3 pack was pretty darned good.

As far as feel or balance, there really isn't a lot of difference. And two extra rounds for a lower price seemed to be a good deal.

If it ever happens, nobody knows ahead of time how many rounds will be needed. I'm an old timer, but a guy older than me said it was "One more than you need."
