Default Replacing Takedown Lever Spring

My akedown Lever Spring got stuck, and it chewed up somewhat while trying to get it back in the track so I could get the slide off.

I have a new one, and will replace it tomorrow. It looks like it can be replaced without removing the locking block. Has anybody replaced this spring? Was it necessary to remove the locling block?

Unfortunately, you must remove the locking block completely to properly install the new spring.

Check the Apex and YouTube websites for helpful videos.

Apex makes the perfect removal jig so you don't beat up your frame.

Good Luck.

Yep, I figured that out. I also figured out that I ordered the wrong part. The Takedown Lever Spring is for the M&P, the Shield uses a Slide Stop Spring.

I only found the part at one place, and they are back ordered. Thier picture makes the spring look pretty sturdy, so I checked mine under a jewelers loupe. It's actually in good shape, just shiny from having the coating scraped off. It's also completely recessed in the track.

I think I'm just going to put a dab of grease on it to prevent rust, and check it every cleaning.

I did a "email me when in stock" and will order it then.
