Default Bodyguard ammo preference?

I have the M&P bodyguard 380 without the laser. I did replace the trigger with the Santiago trigger from Galloway Precision. That greatly helped the pull length. I did not replace the springs in the slide. I was not having light strikes so I gave this configuration a test. I tried it with Browning ammo and Hornady critical defense. I shot from 10 yards and was able to keep everything within a 3" circle. Most shots were tighter than that. Now for the mystery. I tried Fucci ammo and was shooting 12" low and the spread was at least 12". Has anyone else had this issue? The Fucci is round nosed and the Browning is semi wadcutter, while the Hornady is rather pointed. Don't know if that is the issue or if I have another issue going on. Any comments?

I've had no problems with any brass ammo with over 1500 rounds thru her.I won't use steel or aluminum ammo that's just me.I have the original trigger in mine for I like the looooong heavy trigger I feel it's best when in pocket.Quite like my old J-frame was.

No mods for my M&P BG. Love this thing. Near 900 rounds 100% trouble free with Hornady American Gunner. GREAT little pocket .380

Federal American Eagle and PMC have been 100% reliable. Fiocchi had light strike issues in my BG. am going to range with 4 boxes of Lehigh Xtreme Penetration to see if there are any feed issues. this is ammo i want to carry. downside is price.....very expensive.

Default Checking with the tests...

Checking with the tests on Luckygunner .380 ammo shot from a Glock 42.

Hornady 90 gr FTX was the best in penetration and expansion.

Sig Sauer 90 gr V crown a close second

Speer 90 gr Gold Dot was a close third.

Other bullets either didn't expand well or under or over penetrated.

I'm glad to see this. I never really knew what .380 was capable of. Something that penetrates and expands to almost 1/2" diameter ain't too shabby.

But I've got a metal 1911 style .380 and it doesn't feel very good to shoot, no easier on the recoil than my 9mm Shield. I think a plastic gun would be pretty snappy.

Only ammo that shoots like **** in my Smith Bodyguard is the Monarch 95 gr FMJ. Sprays it all over the paper. For carry, I have Hornady Personal Defense.

My new BG 380 loves Federal American Eagle, does NOT love Maxxtech. It's like night and day difference.

Shooting Precision ONe 90 gr in my BG after watching Ammo Quest 380 Gel test. That was an eye opener! My gun likes it!
I’ve found after 50+ years of shooting that each gun (rifle, pistol, revolver etc.) has its own favorite ammo.

Be SAFE and Shoot Often!

I don't have a .380. but recently noticed something similar with some Fiocchi 9mm ammo I bought.
Out of my Full-size M&P the Fiocchi 115 grain shot sub 2 inch groups at 25 yards and hit dead on.
The same ammo out of my PC Shield hit 6 inches low, and was maybe a 6 to 7 inch group. Normally off a rest with other ammo, the Shield will shoot 3 inch group and not impact anywhere near that low.
Not sure why the little guns don't seem to like Fiocchi.

That's weird. We use Fiocchi in our Sig 380s and have had no issues with accuracy that weren't related to the nut working the trigger.
