So it's not really a compact, but a mid-size. Wonder if the slides are interchangeable between FS and "compact/mid-size".

Same size as the 1.0 midsize. I think I will go by that 1.0 compact now, thank for the info.

Now,, why did they have to go and do that! I already made my mind up to shy away from stuff that wasn't 9mm!
Damn them! And I do still have a bunch of .45 ammo!
(lookin thru my gun rathole now!)

One good thing about sticking to the same line - specifically the M&Ps, or the RAPs, they all look very, very similar.
Makes it harder to discern another new gun! lol, especially if they are all compacts!
"No, Honey, this is the same one I showed you a month or so ago!" "The bullets are just slightly different!"
Kinda always gets the same response - "How many guns do you have, anyway?"
"I don't know, I never counted them; but, probably more than I need!"
Works pretty good for me.

I have the original 45C and was wondering if I should upgrade.
If this is the new compact I’ll keep what I have.

This offering doesn't appear to be a true "Compact" like the 1.0 Compact model. Upon reviewing the spec sheet, it states capacity at 10 +1. My current 1.0 Compact comes with 8 +1. So this one probably has the FS frame and Compact slide/barrel.....NO THANKS! I will wait until they offer a "true" Compact with the shorter frame grip.

The 10+1 capacity tells me that it is really an upgrade from what used to be called the mid size ....full size frame, 4" barrel;that they made for a while and discontinued a couple years ago.

10+1 .45 and 4" bbl seems like a winner.

I don't understand why they don't make the 5-inch version for the 45. I know it isn't much difference between 4.6 and 5 inches but I love my 9mm 5-inch.

Actually it is a winner, and that's why I added the XGrip and a 10 round magazine to my 45C, but I really like the flexibility of slipping in my flush mag when I conceal carry IWB.
I'm kind of surprised they made this move because I thought the original 45C out sold the 4" mid-size. I guess I was wrong about that.

Time to sell my P320C in 45 and get this one. That’ll round out my plastic pistols. Thanks for spending my money!

I love love love my mid-size 45 v1.0, but the grip is just a little too long for regular conceal carry duty. About 0.75" too long to be exact, same dimensions as this new compact. It does make a great bedside gun however.
I'm a little disappointed with this new offering but thankfully the 1.0 compacts are relatively plentiful (and now maybe less expensive?).

This tells me S&W may keep the new M&P 45s coming!
Hopefully the next one will have the shorter grip (8 round flush magazine) but will still take the longer mags!
I love my 45 Shield and will eventually get one of these.
Thank you S&W!
