Default Can I Stand Brown?

I got an ad for a Plastic M&P 2.0 that (almost) meets my interest.
A 5" without manual safety or "tactile" loaded chamber indicator.
All it lacks is a fibre optic front sight and an action tune.

Problem is, it is still brown.
Maybe I can find a Pro.
But the brown gun is a lot cheaper.
Decisions, decisions.
I guess I could just shoot my present 4.25".

I don’t find the FDE and bronze-colored plastic guns too off-putting. They’re never going to look like a real gun, so why not? Besides, I get tired of nothing but black, black, black. The only ones I object to are those with an FDE frame and a black slide. If it’s going to be FDE, make the whole gun FDE!

I see no problem as long as it matches your shoes.

I bought a brown M&P 45 a few years back when they were hard to find and I didn’t know if I could get another one. Shoots just fine, and I don’t notice the color any more.

The only thing more ugly than a two tone FDE pistol, is a two tone FDE AR15!

Personally I don’t see myself EVER buying an FDE firearm. But others like them and even prefer them. And that is exactly why they make both. Choices!

Has a black 5" version even been mentioned by S&W?

I wanted a 5" FDE until I thought about trying to keep it clean. The black residue on the gun would drive me crazy if I couldn't get it all off. Still, if the price was low enough I would be very tempted to pick one up.

Only you can tell if that color will bother you.

If I saw a gun I wanted, the color wouldn't stop me from buying it.

Personally, I like the FDE color in M&P pistols but if you don't, you don't.
So you could just order a 5" Performance Center slide assembly that's set up with FO sights and CORE optics mounts.
They run about $375 and require no FFL. That should leave you some $ left over for trigger work, an optic, extra mags etc.
