Took my new 45 shield to the range today for the first time today. The first few magazines were stiff to load but otherwise no issues. 50 rounds of Freemom Munitions ball ammo and 50 Federal 230 hydrashock +p. The trigger was very nice. No grit. Clean break and reset. I checked on my Lyman scale and it was about 5 lbs 2 oz before the range trip and about 4 lbs 10-11 oz after. Both ammo types shot well but the Federals seem to be tightly clustered, most touching from 21 feet. Recoil was fine for me. Grip was solid and no issues with comfort. All and all I would give it a 5 out of 5 stars with the only hitch being the in initial mag stiffnes. I only question why it took me 2 glocks and a kahr before I found this little gem.

They are great little guns aren't they! And .45 to boot! Amazingly accurate and controllable.

IMO, the Shield 45 beats all other pistols in its class, hands down. I wouldn't trade mine for a truckload of Glocks.

I just looked at a mint used one for 325 on Fri gun and 2 mags looked new . I have a L/E package Shield with many mags and night sights in 9mm and it works flawless , I bought a Colt Gov 45 about 2 weeks ago so I held back on the 45 Shield for 325

Because good things take time. If you think it's great now, try a Talon rubber grip on it. Enjoy and good shooting.

Last year I was looking for a single stack pistol for EDC. Love my Glock19/23 but it is a bit much for summer carry. I looked at the Shield 9 1.0 but then held the Shield 45. Love at first grip. My first round after purchase was a dead on bullseye. I purchased another when the rebate was on ($265 OTD after rebate). I've modded my carry Shield 45 with an Apex sear and heavy return spring. Added a HiViz front. It needs nothing else. Big holes are better than little ones.

Shield .45 is a great little pistol, sure do like mine. It is my EDC a good part of the time. As mentioned above, I like the Talon Grips as I carry AIWB and it takes away any irritation of rubbing the skin and the Uplula works great for loading mags. Enjoy your Shield .45!

Have the rubber Talon Grips on my Shield 9. I like it a lot, and will likely do the same on the 45.

Live a learn I bought a Springfield X ds 45 A C P about 3.0 years ago. Bought the M & P 40 C the same week. M& P 40 c flawless . I cant say the the same for the Springfield. I am going to sell X D S off and get the Sheild 45

Just curious- what was wrong with the XD?

The X D S would not fire or feed full magazines for 1st 500 rounds. Then seemes to run fine. With my hands this gun would. And does bite the heck out of me holding full grip. For me I would have to hold it way down the lower end. Then the last trip at range it started the no feed fire again I am done. Got it up for sale. When its gone I will get the M & P.

Just picked up my Shield 45 this morning. Brought it home, gave it a good wipe down, ran a rag through the barrel, lubed it. Loaded up some Federal 230gr FMJs, stepped out the back door and let go with a triple tap at a 6x6 that stands about 20 yds in back of the house. Two hit, saw the one kick up some dirt beyond the post. Man, what a sweet little pistol!

Didn't think anything could win me away from my Shield 9,,, till I got a 45. It's been stupid accurate from Day 1, actually makes me believe I'm better than I really am, (A few rounds in DA with my snubby quickly invalidates that thought). Like the 9, the only addition has been a Hogue grip sleeve for a bit more girth. Still like the 9, but you know how we old guys are about 45's.

Yep. Best self defense round ever made, all wrapped up in the beautiful curves of the M&P, and made in the USA.

I have whittled my pistols down to 9mm and .45's. I like my 9's but I am real partial to the good old .45 ACP and, in my humble opinion, the M&P's are hard to beat.
